So that was 7 fish (or possibly 8 if one was a return or not?) brought to the nest after 10.30 this morning. I’ve no idea how many before then but I’m sure there would’ve been some! Mostly all small but very fresh, straight from the water!

Saturday 3 June

Early morning delivery of small live fish at 05.55

Next delivery 17 minutes later at 06.12 a very lively fish, bigger than the first.

Flora to the rescue!

Flora flew off for a comfort break after the feed. Harry eyed the leftover fish 

and flew down from the perch and collected it. His first meal this morning, unless he’s had something off nest.

Flora then returned and found a morsel of fish on one of the chick’s backs! 

Good to see the canvas rag off the nest that Flora brought in yesterday.

Flora finishes off the tail. Harry is quite the contortionist during his preening session.

Flora turns to Harry to tell him they need more fish.

#3 crouches down in submission.

13.09 Harry has been away fetching a large brown trout for lunch.

Bob #3 is slow to get up and warily goes forward towards the meal.

You can see #3’s feathers changing now too as it’s head and back starts to darken. As the feed progresses, #3 manages to get to the front.

How full do those chicks look!
I think #3 had eyed the fish for a pillow

but Harry took it away. He had another use in mind! 

14.27 After Harry has had a feed, the remainder of the fish is brought back. The chicks fed well, especially #1 who gets the lions share until it backs off then #2 dominant and #3 got a private feed at the end.

Chick #1 (front) can take larger chunks now

Chick #3 not getting anything so is trying to peck at the fish.

#3 lay down after being ignored in the feed. (Middle) It’s #2’s turn to fill up now. (#1 already withdrawn - front)

And now #3 is up again and gets its chance of mum’s attention.

That feed isn’t long finished when Harry arrives with another fish. 15.52

And the next fish arrives at 17.39. Harry is like a conveyor belt of fish, they just keep coming!

Chick #3 gets to mum first and receives the first bite.

The other 2 chicks soon arrive and they end up standing in a line with #3 in the middle.
