Yes Wendy you’re right, I’m glad that’s over now.
09.04 LJ2 brought in a whole fish.
The feed began
#2 retired first #1 managed a little more
LM6 fed well too
She tidied around the nest and eventually covered the chicks around 09.30.
As Wendy so rightly said, a sad but necessary action from LM6. RIP little Bob #3. Thank you for showing the closure, Glider
09.37 LJ2 returned to the nest for the fish.
LM6 started calling at him. LJ2 then began to eat the fish on the nest.
LM6 was calling all the time as LJ2 ate and he had to give up the fish when LM6 came for it at 09.45. Note bob #1 up straight away!
LM6 brought the fish over and bob #2 got up too. (back)
Chicks fed until satisfied again.
10.21 another feed
These two have had a good morning. They are both full up, lying down and LM6 still offering fish but no takers.
LM6 then finishes off the small remaining piece and swallows the tail.
10.41 LJ2 returns looking for the fish but he’ll need to go and get another!
12.39 and here he is, LJ2 with another fish. Second fresh one of the day.
A wee bit of a struggle for LJ2 letting go.
But he manages and LM6 collects it. She has to wake up the chicks to feed them.
The feed went well
Both chicks down resting again
LM6 tidies then returns to brood.
Looks like she is sitting on the half fish.
13.35 Another feed from the fish. #2 getting fed
The chicks are getting full. #2 left #1 right
LM6 continues to try to give them some more with some success.
Once finished, LM2 flies off for a comfort break and LJ2 comes to the nest but there are no leftovers.
LM6 soon returns.
The chicks are zonked, lying in opposite directions as LM6 tries to settle on top.
13.51 LJ2 flies off.
17.26 Fish #3 arrives tail first
LM6 takes the head end and turns it round to hold.
After LM6 offers each chick one more piece and they refuse, she discards the fish and flies off for a comfort break.
LM6 returns within a minute. #2 bob has laid down.
She collects the fish and starts feeding #1 again.
It had a few extra mouthfuls. LM6 then tried #2 and it took one piece. LM6 managed to give it quite a few more pieces of fish.
Then it was tidy up time and all lie down.
