LM6 LJ2
So far so good! The first 2 chicks are doing well, the 3rd just hatched this morning.
Llyn Brenig has been putting regular update videos on their FB.
LM6 has a paddle
The chicks are being left for longer periods on the nest. They are doing lots of preening as their feathers develop and grow. This was after 10.00 this morning.
At the same time, the parent birds were keeping an eye on their chicks whilst preening as well on the preening perch next to the nest.
The chicks had another feed from the earlier fish and then again at 13.00
It was finished off this time as LM6 swallowed the tail
15.46 LJ2 flies in for a visit. He decides to shift some bits n pieces on the nest.
LM6 tells him the fish is finished. He leaves and LM6 is still calling, the chicks are replicating her calls.
16.52 LM6 is looking intently on something that has caught her eye. The wind is getting noisier on the cam audio.
17.45 LM6 is calling loudly as she sees LJ2 bringing in a fish.
The chicks are calling too
All ate well.
19.22 LJ2 flew in with another fish.
He waited for a few minutes with little interest from his family then flew off with it again.
LJ2 took the fish to the preening perch and ate some of it.
21.02 He returned with the fish to the nest.
LM6 wasn’t too quick in getting up to receive the fish. When she did go towards LJ2, he had some interest from one chick and started feeding it.
After a few minutes the other chick went over to join its sibling. The feed was hidden by LJ2 so I’m not sure who got what. At 21.15, LJ2 flew off with the fish again.
After a quick break, LM6 returned to the nest and retrieved the fish tail from the earlier fish.
She started eating it then one of the chicks asked for some.
The other chick held back for a bit before joining the feed as the first chick turned away.
The fish got finished off.
With LM6 settled down with the chicks and night cam on, at 10.47 LJ2 returned with the half eaten (3rd) fish.
LJ2 nibbled at the fish for a couple of minutes then left it on the nest and flew off.
11.10, LJ2 flew to the east perch to roost for the night.
Friday 30 June
Good morning Looked like a peaceful night for the family and fish.
The rain arrived early morning
and continued
08.44 LM6 flew to the preening perch for a wee tidy up
She returned to the nest at 09.07 and decided to take the fish.
She returned 3 minutes later at 09.10 and began a feed with the chicks.
One ate and then the other
The fish was finished off.
