                        LM6                   LJ2

So far so good! The first 2 chicks are doing well, the 3rd just hatched this morning.

  • 12.51 another feed from the fish.

    Only #2 was interested.

#2 finally turned away from the feed and decided to go over to join #1.

    #1 front

LM6 followed #2 with the fish and managed to get it to eat some more.

#1 was then enticed to take some as well.

13.13 LM6 finished off the fish, swallowing the tail.

  • LJ2 has spent a lot of his day on the preening perch. Here he is looking splendid at 12.45

LM6 and the chicks have been relaxing on the nest, waiting on the next meal. A spot of preening for #1. (front)

    15.52, LJ2 arrives with a small snack.

The chicks are quickly over. #1 (right) gets the better feed this time, although #2 does get some as well.

LM6 swallowed the tail at 16.00.

  • Fabulous fish delivery for LM6 and the chicks at 16.56.

  • LM6 gives the chicks another feed from the fish at 17.32. LJ2 flies onto the nest.

LJ2 waits around for a bit hoping to take the fish but LM6 is on a marathon feed! LJ2 flies off

LM6 feeds both chicks until they withdraw but she continues eating.

LM6 walks away from the fish but shortly goes back to it. She entices #2 with a few more bites.

Then she manages to get interest from #1 again.

Both chicks lie down again or should I say collapse!

LM6 eats some more. Somehow the chicks rally round and have another few pieces.

LM6 walked away from the fish after the chicks withdrew again.

Finally LJ2 gets his turn to have some of the fish.

18.01 LJ2 flies off with his meal.

  • 18.23 LJ2 returned with the tail end of the fish and ate it on the nest.

I don’t know if LM6 was none too pleased. She was telling him something anyway!

    18.45 Down goes the tail.

  • 20.00 LM6 and the chicks having a bit of shut eye.

    LJ2 is having a preen.

  • 21.47 LJ2 visits the nest. LM6 shouts for fish.

It’s a bit late now to go fishing. He leaves and returns at 22.22 to his perch where he’ll roost for the night.

  • Wednesday 14 June

Good morning Grinning All looked well overnight. LJ2 stayed on the perch until 04.23.

He flew to the nest to say hello. LM6 asked for breakfast.

LJ2 returned with it at 05.51, a nice whole fish.

    Lovely family scene.

  • Once the feed was finished and LM6 brooding the chicks, LJ2 returned for the fish at 06.20.

He returned with it at 06.58 and the chicks got another feed.

    #1 enjoyed a soIo feed.

It took #2 over 10 minutes before joining #1.

#2 took a piece then withdrew alongside #1.

#1 at the front with a very healthy crop

After a wee while, #2 changed its mind and went back for a feed.

    The feed finished at 07.21.

  • LM6 gave the chicks another feed at 07.53. Again, #1 fed, #2 wasn’t hungry and took a few token bites at the end of the feed.

    #1 giving #2 a cuddle.

#2 taking a few pieces of fish.

LM6 finished off the skin and tail.
