LM6 LJ2
So far so good! The first 2 chicks are doing well, the 3rd just hatched this morning.
The post from Llyn Brenig Osprey Project earlier this morning
Around 04.30 this morning, the chick hadn’t yet hatched, with the egg just behind the 2 bobs.
I don’t know the hatch time but this snap was taken at 08.20 and the chick is clearly seen and its feathers dried out.
LM6 was just up for a wee stretch.
09.48;LJ2 arrived on the nest. I don’t know if this was his first look at his latest addition to the family.
He was left on his own with the chicks for a bit as LM6 took a comfort break.
LJ2 looked quite relaxed in the sun and stayed in the nest until 11.41
LJ2 returned at 12.22. LM6 asked him to go and get a fish.
13.30 bob 3 (front right) up with the other 2 bobs.
There hasn’t been a fish brought to the nest today. I don’t know if it’s to do with the intruder that was around earlier this morning, LM6 was flapping and chipping.
18.06 bob #1 I presume starts to wriggle its way out from underneath LM6.
It’s fish calling along with mum.
LM6 had been fish calling furiously then LJ2 arrived with nothing. 18.23
LM6 got up and settled back on all of the chicks. She has been asking for fish but LJ2 is still there, standing preening on the nest. 18.44
This is bad. LJ2 stayed on the nest until 20.00. His head was down a lot and he looked lethargic, closing his eyes. That’s twice today he’s stayed on the nest with LM6 for a long period of time, which is out of character for him.
LM6 kept asking for fish. I’m now wondering if LJ2 is able to fish, he seems unwell to me. I hope I’m wrong.
I hope you are too Glider, hard to watch when things go wrong! Just as worried on FB, said he's just left the nest & are waiting to see if he's gone fishing?
