Asha is the proud parent of 3 eggs, the father of which being dubious but probably URM - now called Brodie - as we hardly saw NN2 (for whom we wish all the best elsewhere) be accepted by Asha. Brodie had a lot of trouble fending off intruders which has made him a bit flaky in the fish catching and delivery department. Poor old Asha didn't eat for over 2 days last week. The main intruder was KL5, who seems to have stopped hanging around so much now, which is good as we approach hatch date and the need for fish will ramp up.

Nearly a duplicate but smaller:
I did a video of bits 'n pieces from the morning - unfortunately I haven't put enough captions on it so you may wonder why some bits are included
Brodie had been chilling and preening, don't know where he flew to:
As of 20:16 fish: 8:31, 11:30, 19:39
feedings: 5:09 (2 bites), 5:40, 6:19 (2 bites), 8:32 (with fish), 9:34 (2 bites), 11:31 (with fish), 12:55, 19:40 (with fish) 2 bites = small feedingI may have missing a feeding or two.
fighting: 16:50
So we had an early fish at 08.31, but not as early as he has delivered. The chicks had been well fed on yesterday's left over earlier so they weren't demanding a feast Asha had a good feed, right down to the tail end.
#2 fish arrived at 11.30, headless and smaller, but no one's complaining.
13.19 The PTZ found Brodie preening on the arched tree
16.09 He could be heard intruder chipping, albeit briefly. Asha looks up, but continued preening.
16.15 Asha had a loose feather about to drop out.
16.21 She flies off for a comfort break
and returns, without the feather
16.30 A helicopter could be heard in the distance. Asha was very alert as it got closer, and even when overhead she stayed put, and soon recovered. It was however, very loud
She must have wondered what on earth it was!
16.50 there was a long sustained attacked by #1 on #2. It lasted l.75 minutes. Whether any thing happened earlier I can't say. Asha moved closer to them and this seemed to stop the fight. Perhaps it's time for another fish!
16.56.36 Something fluttered near by, but I couldn't see what it was. Asha looked above the camera. It flew off and could be seen flying right to left. Possibly a chaffinch. I don't think it was Brodie, it didn't look large enough. I can't find it again!!!

Another successful day with the fish deliveries, much need just now to keep their fluids up. My that helicopter was very near and loud, poor Asha, what a noise!! Surprised they flew that near, assuming they did not know an Osprey nest was in the vicinity. It may well have been from over the other side of the main road, where they have been attending the fire at the RSPB Corrimony reserve.
just noticed that asha flew off with a fish at 20:25:28 and then when she came back to the nest twenty seconds later at 20:25:49 she no longer had the fish. she wasn't behaving as if brodie was in the area to hand it off to him. would she have dropped it? i checked both cams but doesn't show what happened to the fish
