Asha is the proud parent of 3 eggs, the father of which being dubious but probably URM - now called Brodie - as we hardly saw NN2 (for whom we wish all the best elsewhere) be accepted by Asha. Brodie had a lot of trouble fending off intruders which has made him a bit flaky in the fish catching and delivery department. Poor old Asha didn't eat for over 2 days last week. The main intruder was KL5, who seems to have stopped hanging around so much now, which is good as we approach hatch date and the need for fish will ramp up.

25 April - egg 1
28 April - egg 2
01 May - egg 3
Hello. Indeed Catlady, another hot day is forecast down south of Cambridge, and no wind today. The bonus is a flock of newly fledged starling and a mamma Gt Spotted Woodpecker feeding a young one all vying for the fat balls!
Super reports, beautiful pics and vids, Scylla. I hope you are feeling at lest slightly better today.
Thanks for the report of 05.41 fish delivery. It is worth noting that two osprey were reported of trying to fish at 03.45, at Aviemore Ospreys this morning. One chased the other away, but they both returned in better light. We will never know, but wouldn't it be interesting to know if Brodie was one of them. So asked the question. Gordon replied "He has". I am surprised he knows Brodie, but delighted to hear his response. He knew Odin because he had been fishing there for years.
I can't do any more at the moment - personal on going stuff- but hope to be back later.

Unknown said:Chat suggests she flew off with the breakfish and dropped it.
That was 06:50 as per my snaps - but she was doing the calling before that.
BTW, she did exactly the same 2 days ago - https://youtu.be/zYts8y6lcns - we just have to guess that she dropped the fish. Maybe, in line with the current fashion, she's got mental health issues
Here's Brodie...
IMAGICAT
Good morning, just checked Chat. TWO more FISH!
Good sized fish, too. Brodie’s very interested in the chicks, but she screams until he leaves, lol.
Second one also good size, and he leaves it on the nest.

Thank you CC. Brodie has really upped his game lately. Good boy!!
Right, a bit of a catch up!
First from y'day I spotted what I believe was an intruder, although chat were saying it was Brodie. Both were in the area I think. I didn't take enough pics to pin point, but it's worth noting, and I'm sorry I didn't get round to posting this.
14.39 Asha started looking around intently, up to the skies
14.43 She half mantles and calls – I say half mantles, but she did have her wings slightly open earlier, keeping cool. She looks above, twisting her neck to see.
14.47 Full mantle as an osprey flies from the right, behind the nest and back again. More angry calls and it passes low over the nest and lands on the top left perch of the dead tree on the edge of the screen. Good shot on PTZ
14.47 Cam goes in search of it and on a perch finds Brodie, but whether the intruder was him, I've not sure. He was looking around, as tho looking for the intruder. Some on Chat don't think it was him.
15.04 It left the perch, flew towards and over the nest and away. Asha watched it.
Today 15 June
04.45 Aviemore Osp Well that's the morning I've been due. Four ospreys diving right in front of the head on hide, all getting fish after a couple of misses, fecking spectacular in the best possible light, just a magic morning I was long overdue
Two ospreys trying to fish at 3.45am, one chased the other, but they both came back in the best light ever.
05.41 #1 fish from Brodie
06.50 Chat Asha left with the fish, and returned without it, again! She did the same on 13 June at 20.25. Scylla https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYts8y6lcns
09.07 SFE to Avie Osp A brilliant start to the day for you! Fish delivered at Loch Garten at 05.41 this morning. It would be lovely to know (but we can't!) that the new 2023 unringed male had found your pond. He has two chicks and the female (also unringed who arrived in 2021).
AvieOsp He has.
06.14 BBC Breakfast Asha and chicks on the nest
06.55 BBC Breakfast Asha and chicks on the nest
07.49 BBC Breakfast Asha and chicks on the nest
11.04 #2 fish
11.05 Brodie flew off. Both chicks up and waiting eagerly. Cuckoo calls
11.31 Both osplets still up and taking foods, but with less gusto. Asha feeds herself.
11.39 Osplets squeal, but not for food. Asha holds onto the fish, but isn't eating. Looking around, into the bowels of the nest.
11.46 Mumbrella has been on duty throughout the feed. It's another day of clear blue skies and sunshine.
11.58 Asha has a snack, down at the skin. Did MaryFK call is 'wiring'?
12.01 Asha tries to feed an osplets, but there are no takers, although a head is bobbling around.
She stops feeding herself, but there can't be much left.
12.30 After a long pause, Asha's attention moves back to the fish, but again there are no takers.
12.47.09 #3 fish Brodie landed with another fish!! Asha didn't know whether to leave her fish and ignore the new one! There is actually plenty of the original one left after all, so she stuck with that while Brodie flossed his beak and stood guard, holding on to the headless fish.
12.48.31 Brodie flew off, leaving #3 fish lying on the nest. Asha continues with #2 fish.
Osplets are taking some food, but not enthusiastically. #1 more so.
12.59.26 Asha left for a comfort break. #2 was up watching. Asha soon returned. As nited by Scylla, '1 is more active now, sitting up quite well at times.
13.00 #3 fish is still lying at the back of the nest, but she continues to eat from the remains of #2.
13.13 PTZ Cam goes in search, panning the area. Across the bent bare tree, to the tops of the dead tree
13.17.43 Passed the old nest tree, the dead tree branches that Odin would site, back passed the current nest, and a sudden move and zoom. Brodie, I guess with his back to us, chilling!!
13.28 Brodie flew, but returned to the same tree, different branch. Has he seem or heard something?
13.38 Asha gives brief calls and still hasn't spotted #3 fish!
14.13 Brodie is still on the perch. He turns, had a poop and took flight
14.39 Asha is panting on the nest, #3 fish lies at the back of the nest - brown trout getting ever more brown and leather-like
Asha Mumbrella
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The fish deliveries so far:
Thank you all for reports 'n snaps, especially SHEILA for the mammoth recap.
Daddy was very interested:
I've been thru the PTZ footage looking for good chick-pic candidates, but the one time they popped up far enough the cam was zoomed right out
Canuck said:apologies for any mix up yesterday.
Your reports are appreciated, Canuck, and any misinterpretations can be cleared up eventually. We would need even more PTZs and drones to see what's really going on. And to think there's another male in the area with the same markings as Brodie... and Asha!
I was conscious of Asha mantling at times but just couldn't focus, so I was chocolate teapot.
15.47 Asha finally spotted the #3 fish and dragged it to the cup area. Rigor moritis has definitely set in! But I guess it does the same purpose! Osprey don't have the capability to smell!
15.56 she went around so that she was shading the osplets from the sun.
16.03 she clears all the dropped fishing pieces around the nest! and cleaned her beak
16.16 she was watching the skies. Who, what?
16.39 another feed for everyone
17.02 a check of the nest base and she has a comfort break/ #1 sits upright to follow where she is
17.04 back with another annoying twiglet and a chirrup
17.48 she is stilling finding bits of dropped or discarded fish
18.08 she picks up the fish again, and has a feed herself
18.13 she is feeding one of the osplets, slightly unsure which, but it could be #2. #1 wakes up and take food on board too
18.28 she is wandering around the nest, still feeding the osplets.
18.35 feed is closing down. She is more interested now in watching the skies.
18.37 feed is well over. No sign of Brodie
