Karen W said:Thanks Glider. I find it so amusing watching the females shove their partners off the eggs lol
I know Karen, it is funny seeing what they have to do to get back onto the eggs!
Saturday 13th May 2023
Good morning All looked peaceful last night. LJ2 popped by at 21.30 to say goodnight.
LM6 in a deep sleep at midnight. You can see her body gently move as she breathes.
Just before 01.00, LM6 had a good wing flap and a quick comfort break.
Day cam came on at 04.46 and LM6 sitting ready for LJ2 to relieve her.
LJ2 arrives at 05.09 and LM6 is quickly up to her feet and away to the preening perch.
She lands
and immediately turns around
and is straight in to get that itchy bit! What a lovely sunrise this morning.
06.45 LM6 returns to the nest after a lengthy preen.
A few soft contact calls from LM6 and LJ2 gets up so she can take over incubation.
08.07 LJ2 arrives to take over incubation again.
A much shorter stint this time. 08.30 LM6 flies in with a stick.
She moves her stick to behind LJ2
and inadvertently stumbles, thus knocking LJ2’s tail, causing him to get up
He quickly settles down on the eggs again.LM6 has to change tactics and tackles this literally head on. She goes to the front of LJ2 and as he is adjusting his position, LM6 shuffles her way onto the eggs.
LJ2 didn’t have much say in the matter!
LJ2 flew down to rest at a low tree at the water’s edge.
12.00 LM6 still currently on the eggs. It must be quite hot as she has been opening her beak.
