.
After a start/stoppy kinda season, we now have settled couple "URM" (until LG give him a name) and Asha, or Mistle as some would prefer.
Asha is the proud parent of 2 eggs, the father of which being dubious but probably URM, as we hardly saw NN2 (for whom we wish all the best elsewhere) be accepted by Asha.
URM and Asha are similarly marked but distinguishable by certain differences which I may slot in here but I've lost them for the time being.
Asha (R) is looking rather small in this snap because she's crestfallen due to no supper:
Because Asha did so much work on the nest before she had a partner, there hasn't been a lot for URM to do - but he has quite frequently brought in nest material - and his fish provisions have been regular and willingly handed over. He's a promising Osprey dad so far.
IMAGICAT
If this was indeed a nightingale LG would be swarming with birdwatchers. I have a vague memory of a nightingale being heard at Dyfi, possibly last year, but this was also well outside the normal range.
With my very limited experience of birdsong - limited mainly to LG and Glaslyn online microphones! - I didn't think it was a Chaffinch because the "phraseology" I grew accustomed to in my early LG days, with Moffer and Cirrus as ready tutors, just didn't seem quite right. But of course Chaffinches must be allowed some variety, it's just that I have never absorbed it.
Am tired, should be napping, not trying to explain myself!

I thought it was possibly the same bird in 2 vids, please check so I can send a definite Nightingale to my fwend:
Forgive me Scylla maybe another day . Let every one think what they want . I'll email you about this but not now or tomorrow. I'm just exhausted at the moment

It's a redstart. Nice and flutey but not a nightingale. And a cuckoo too. Good catch!
LOL well the Nightingale has certainly ruffled feathers. The BTO distribution map suggests none in Scotland, but it was published just over ten years ago. Brodie certainly did well with No 2 fish today, quite a whopper. Long may it last. From chat it appears Asha returned with the fish at 16.03 and was away with it again at 16.05, while Brodie remained incubating. Chat said she could be seen on 'the dead branch', but I couldn't find it*. 16.55 Brodie got up and flew from the nest. He gave a gentle chip before flying off, and Asha appeared from behind the foliage of the nest tree and settled down. All very synchronised!*I've just checked that footage again, and Asha was on Odin's perch, just behind the tower, so not obvious, at least to me!! I upped the quality of the screen to HD, and boy does that make a difference!! But I guess it's at the expense of the bandwidth for everything else! 18.19 Asha is having a good stretch, wings and legs, and a flap of her wings and a beak to her toes stretch before settling down again.

Yes, Richard and Korky,, after an extensive listen to my bird song CD and Scylla's videos I agree with you. I did preface my first post with OMG cos I knew it would be most unusual to hear a Nightingale in Scotland but there were quite a few similarities between the songs. My mistake and thank you for the correct answer

I've lost many hours and have written them off.
09 May
Poor sound on this wet morning. Several ins and outs with sticks/clumps but no fish.
I'm away till later.
After yesterday's bumper fish, it seems Brodie is resting on his laurels today. No fish yet, and it appears he left at 09.13, nothing reported on Chat.
I'm still trying to sort out how to 'snip' my capture and to save them. Here's one I tried earlier, when I can also complain about that bloomin' stick.
Woops! That's a bit 'in your face', sorry.
It's been raining, and Asha is trying out the Mrs G look
Hmmm Another monster. I generally change the size to 600x600 and it's been fine. I'll have to try some new numbers. - trial and error.
And this is now, with the sky looking much brighter - original numbers used for the dimensions.
