Thank you Wendy for your response. Very sad. Glad I wasn't watching at the time ..... it's hard to get sights like out out of one's head
can see the hay moving as one of the chicks wiggles about under and a head emerges!
all there - can now see 3 heads
and now a chick fight

The pile of hay is sure handy when you're tired from eating and want to rest your head

Always very difficult to watch when they get nasty with each other!
Heart in my mouth here
18:44 Maya feeding chicks and #3 has itself round
seems pretty low and away from centre!
Maya settles down to brood and the little chick is stuck
19:11 Maya is looking - it appears jammed
#3 is trying to get up and back into the cup under Maya
19:25 hopefully #3 can climb out
19:27 almost there
and safely up and under mum -
last night at 19:44 33 arrived with a large live pike -
33 kept hold as it thrashed about
Maya moves to take it
supper gets underway
all tucked up and breakfish already left for them
This morning
04:57 first feed
05:20 33 flies off with it
05:44 33 returns
