This is a new thread following the Osprey nest at Alyth electricity sub station, located in the Perth and Kinross region.
The Ospreys have nested at the site for many years, first year was around 1990.
They were nesting on a nearby electricity tower, but due to a planned expansion of the site a decision was taken to resite the old nest to a specially constructed 25-metre nesting tower and two nearby 8.5 metre resting perches, which were erected in 2014. Advice was sought from Roy Dennis.Since that first breeding season in 2014, a total of 14 osprey chicks have been observed to have fledged from the new site.
The resident ospreys are called Harry and Flora, named by a local school in Alyth. All pupils were also given their own osprey soft toy as a thank you from the teams for getting involved and for showing such enthusiasm about the ospreys.

10.55 Headless fish delivery
Flora quickly takes it in her beak and she’s off in a flash!Very windy up there today.
11.09 Harry’s on incubation duty but something catches his eye.
He immediately leaves the nest.
Flora mustn’t be nearby eating her fish or I’m sure she would’ve come but the nest is left unattended until Harry returns 11 minutes later. Lucky the crows weren’t around.
14.53 another headless fish delivery. Smaller than the last.
The birds are struggling with the wind on the nest.
Flora veers off to the left this time.
8.31 Flora asking for breakfast (nicely!)
Harry flew to the nest and did a few intruder chips but it led to nothing.
There are a couple of vehicles ploughing today. Flora is keeping a watchful eye on them.
13.56 Flora sounded very excited when Harry brought in a small whole fish.
She quickly took it in her beak and was off.
It looked like another fish at 19.55 but Flora was left disappointed when Harry brought a stick to the nest.
06.01 During the early morning changeover, we got a glimpse of 2 eggs before Harry settled down.
Fish delivery from Harry
Flora must be one of the fastest ospreys around to grab a fish and leave!
11.28 Flora returned with a small piece of fish
She finished it off on the nest.
There goes the tail.
She then cleaned her beak on some sticks before stepping over beside Harry
to take her place on the eggs.
Some snaps from today
Flora fiddling with the plastic
On the lookout together
Flora brings in more plastic
Harry with his daily crow bashing around that tree
Fish for Flora
She takes it in her beak
but transfers it to her talons for the fly off!!
