Male 30(10) seen fishing at River Gwash as well as male T7

River Gwash Fb have posted this morning to confirm that 11(10) was back fishing with them on Friday! Great news for 25(10). Another pair reunited!

5N(04) and 4K non returners this year

Really saddened to learn 5N(04) and 4K wont be back.

I'm going to post a link also on the MB thread for the record.

Very sad news indeed. The return rate overall is not as good as last year

I too was very sad to hear of these well known non returners too. Although I personally didn’t know much about 5N(04), I used to look forward to the satellite images of 4K(13)’s journeys on Twitter each year. I was overjoyed that last year he finally found a mate and bred for the first time. That’s the comfort that I will hold onto.

I am sorry we have lost 5N(04). She was fledged the year I started following ospreys. She returned to Rutland just after her nest brother 5R(04) and was the first Rutland born bird to breed. Her first mate was 08(97) who until then had been unlucky in love.

They were the parents of Glesni of Dyfi. 5N was also the full sister of Nora.

Thanks for your memories of 5N(04) Hilary. I’m much more recent to the world of ospreys and love hearing how everything pieces together. I’ve heard of Glesni. It is sad when one of the greats, who have been part of our lives for so many years doesn’t return. (also Mrs G of Glaslyn this year) Their legacy lives on.
