Just a quick update on plans.

There are a lot of things being done in the building, on the reserve, and with the camera system.
Many of these changes will benefit visitors to the center.
The main nest camera that failed last year is being replaced and the others are being serviced.
There will also be upgrades to a lot of the background system.
Hopefully, we will get even better pictures streamed this year.

Opening. This is planned for the end of March but is subject to some work being finished.

Live streaming. We hope to have this running towards the end of March and hopefully before Ospreys return.

The nest suffered in the winter from wind, this has been repaired. This picture does show what is in the base of an undisturbed Osprey nest.(Also one of our winter visitors.)

Thanks for the new thread and the update, Colin. Do you know if any of that mound was removed or were sticks simply attached around it? Or something else? It must weigh quite q bit. Another photo post-rebuilding would be lovely if anyone has the time to post one for us--thanks (but I do know that posting photos for us is probably not even ON the priority list just now and rightly so!) Best of luck to everyone there in getting everything done in time for the return of the Ospreys.

That's Janine and Nadine two of the managers checking the nest after it was tidied up.
Can you tell who was happy up the scaffolding and who took some persuading to go up there?

I spend quite a lot of time using towers, and they are bad enough at 10m high on a solid concrete floor, let alone out there by the nest.

Thanks Richard and Colin---I should have checked the Facebook page before typing--duh! It looks like Janine is trying to multitask, chatting on her phone. She must not be too worried or she would be hanging on with one hand while moving sticks with the other and so with no possibility of a phone chat while doing that! It is a long way up so a bit of trepidation is to be expected. I expect most people would be a bit reluctant to climb up there. At least they had scaffolding and were not clinging to a ladder on its lonesome.

Actually, I'm somewhat disappointed !!! Viewed from the Osprey nest cam the nest looks so much bigger than that shown within the scaffolding . Have I missed something?

I think the sticks will "grow" outside the nest box when the Ospreys start building.

The thought will have been that the Ospreys are the experts in what they want. Give them a base and they will sort it out.
