Monday 12th June: first fish arrived at 03.59.17
Monday 12th June 10.26 The chick wandered over to the edge but Dorcha kept watch, moved over, and stood alongside until he chick turned back towards the nest cup. Today is the anniversary of little Bob 3's unfortunate and ultimately tragic accident last year, falling through the cot rails, couldn't get back, and died of hyperthermia in the rain and cold. But it must be noted Bob 3 was never very strong - wobbly, fell over multiple times, often faced the wrong way at mealtimes. This chick could not be more different!
Monday 12th 14.12.05 Late lunch - fish number two
Monday 12th Nest One LV0 was like a yo-yo, hopping on and off the nest between 15.09.11 - 15.32.40, no one else turned up.
Monday 12th 18.15 The weather suddenly turned, and Dorcha was startled by a very loud clap of thunder and flew off, leaving the chick alone in a violent rainstorm with the wind howling and more thunder. This is the first proper rain the chick's encountered, fortunately Dorcha returned before too long and provided shelter. There was reports of a lightning strike just 3 kms from the nest, and Liz Bracken reported power outages.
Monday 12th Final fish, number three, arrived at 20.00.57
Monday 12th Nest One After not being seen all day, Affric turned up at 20.00.24.
She was fish calling but no one answered, no sign of Prince or LV0, and she left about 40 minutes later.
Monday 12th June Affric arrived at 10pm with LV0 right behind. He had a fish but wouldn't give it to Affric and departed with it almost immediately.
She stayed on the nest calling, but not very loudly, and left at 22.51. Still no sign of Prince - is he feeding her elsewhere? Is she only getting occasional fish from LV0 and fishing for herself? It's all an intriguing mystery!
Tuesday 13th June Breakfast! Fish number one arrives at 04.06.59
