2022 return dates: LM12 (Laddie) - 13th March; NC0(16) - 23rd March
Looking forward to welcoming back Laddie and NC0 to this wonderful location at Loch of the Lowes. Will Laddie, in his 12th season, beat his earliest arrival date that he achieved last year? Will NC0, her 4th season, be heard before she is seen on cam? Could we see the return of their 2021 offspring, LR1 and LR2? Here's hoping they have safe, spring migrations so as to grace our screens once again.

Morning All
Laddie has completed 2 incubation duties already this morning...
The first was when he relieved NC0 of her overnight duty at 6:23ish
She had a good flap of her wings before leaving
Day cam switched on, NC0 was on the birch
NC0 returned at 7:20
Laddie came back to the nest at 7:58 to begin another shift. Before leaving, NC0 was hinting that she would like a fish!
8:45 Shift over

9:29 NC0 very fidgety on the eggs and began intruder chipping
9:34 Clearly still not settled, NC0 stood up and continued to chip (I thought she was going to fly off)
She was more relaxed at 9:37 when she resumed incubation after changing her position
Laddie to the nest with a clump of dried grass at 9:41
Laddie eyeing the eggs
Off she went
9:53 Laddie resting
Glider said:I love how the birds have different tactics to get each other off the eggs!
Morning Glider, it's such fun to watch!
10:01 NC0 returned with a small twig and popped it onto Laddie's back (it fell off)
She readjusted a large stick at the front edge of the nest
Seeing that Laddie had risen, NC0 headed towards the nest cup
NC0 sorted out some grasses before settling on the eggs
10:58 Laddie to the nest with a piece of bark, placing it on the right side of the nest
Laddie quickly down to incubate
NC0 off and made a beautiful clockwise flight over the Loch (behind the back trees) before landing on the birch. The bark can be seen to the right of Laddie's tail
11:27 Laddie resting his eyes
11:55 Laddie began to chip
He stood up and flapped his wings
Looking skyward, continuing to chip
He went back to the eggs
More chipping
Aerating the nest cup
Chipping while incubating
Calm but watchful
The whole episode lasted around 5 minutes. No intruder seen.
NC0 back to the nest at 12:08
A quick preen
NC0 was making short calls
Laddie rose from the eggs and headed off at 12:11ish
12:35 Laddie back to the nest with a clump of nesting material
Both were quiet but watchful
NC0 rose, Laddie to the nest cup
Don't you just hate it when the wind os blowing in the wrong direction - it plays havoc with your hair! lol
NC0 left a few minutes after Laddie's arrival
Laddie is certainly getting plenty of incubation time today!
