2022 return dates: LM12 (Laddie) - 13th March; NC0(16) - 23rd March
Looking forward to welcoming back Laddie and NC0 to this wonderful location at Loch of the Lowes. Will Laddie, in his 12th season, beat his earliest arrival date that he achieved last year? Will NC0, her 4th season, be heard before she is seen on cam? Could we see the return of their 2021 offspring, LR1 and LR2? Here's hoping they have safe, spring migrations so as to grace our screens once again.

20:58 NC0 is on the birch (clearer in the reflection). Laddie looking fabulous!

NC0 came back to the nest perch at 21:07 without any fish
She didn't stay long and headed off again. Geese were honking quite loudly
She flew quite high up before coming back round to land on the birch
Laddie just prior to night cam coming on at 21:21 Not sure if NC0 was still on the birch or not
NC0 returned at 21:33, she made a couple of contact calls on landing
Time for a scratch
Onto the nest
Laddie up from the eggs
A quick flap of his wings and off he went to roost
NC0 settled to begin her overnight incubation
00:08 Night, night, NC0
Morning All
Laddie took over incubation from NC0 at 5:20
NC0 returned to resume at 6:05
7:03 NC0, still with partly frosted wings
Glider said:This nest is certainly having its share of intruders right now. Interesting that yesterday at Alyth, an unringed intruder landed on the female’s back too. Same one perhaps? So difficult to tell without darvic rings.

Morning Glider,
Yes, it certainly is, the intruder yesterday was particularly persistent - I hope Laddie did enough to encourage it to move on.
8:04 NC0 continuing to incubate
BFN
I've not been able to check back through all of the footage from this morning but there was an unringed intruder at the nest, while Laddie was incubating, at 14:34
Laddie was chipping/alarm calling/scanning the sky when he rose from the eggs in preparation to defend the nest and eggs from the incoming intruder. NC0 was on the birch
Same one as yesterday?
It landed
Laddie jumped up and appeared to use his talons in an attempt to get the intruder away
Laddie gave chase
TBC
Cont'd...
NC0 flew off from the birch, made a flight close to the far left trees and carried on past down the inlet
The cam zoomed in on the eggs
Laddie returned to the nest
He aerated the nest cup
On alert
NC0 could be heard chipping
Cam panned out
No activity seen
Laddie remained incubating until NC0 returned at 16:30
Laddie fiddled with a stick at the back of the nest
Gave his wings a flap
Then lifted off ,making a brief touchdown onto the nest, before heading off
NC0 has continued to incubate, I can't see that anything else has occurred since Laddie left the nest
17:27 NC0 preening
