    An osprey was spotted from Landguard Point, Felixstowe at 9.34 this morning.

    Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

    Sorry, only just spotted this.  Their flight silhouette is very much like that of a large gull - long, slender wings in a shallow W shape.  As it gets closer, though, the four 'fingers' on its wingtips are a dead giveaway.  Talking of gulls, they'll mob ospreys if they see them so that's also worth keeping an eye out for.

    I saw one this morning between Inverness and Nairn flying south from the Moray Firth. First one I've seen for a couple of years so was well chuffed.
