Continued from Manton Bay July 2022

The season so far: Maya returned 15 March @ 10:21 & Blue 33(11) on 21 March @ 17:29. Egg #1 laid 31 March @ c 23:30 & hatched 09 May @ 23:02, Egg #2 laid 03 April @ 18:31 & hatched 10 May @ 12:30 and Egg #3 laid 06 April @ 20:30 & hatched 12 May @ 08:24. On 20 June the chicks were ringed with their unique blue darvics. Chick #1 was fitted with 1H1, #2 with 1H2 and #3 with 1H3. All chicks were females and their biometric data can be found here. 1H1 fledged on 2 July @ 05:34, 1H3 on 3 July @ 12:09 and 1H2 on 4 July @ 09:06.

17:59 FISH
1H1 lands on the nest
1H1 looks out as 33 approaches
33 arrives with a smallish, live fish for her
1H1 grabs the fish and it gets loose lol
fish makes it way to the edge and 1H1 chases after it :-D
1H1 gets hold of it and protects her fish
then 1H1 just hoovers up with the fish in talon

1h1 gets another live fish but takes a long time to finish it (about 10 minutes), she apparently doesn't know yet how to handle it..
But practice makes perfect I guess.
The video includes the previous live fish and the last 8 minutes are sped up...

05:53 FISH and it is a whopper !!

1H1 stands over her fish
1H1 drags the fish and is trying to get airborne !!
she can't lift it and settles front of the nest
06:01 and off she goes with it
And she has lost it!!!
06:09 1H1 is back on the nest - fishless
07:50 1H1 back on the nest, fish calling!

and guards her fish as 1H3 stands back
