17:32 1H2 moves in and steals the fish
1H3 attempts to steal from 1H2 but ends up getting a peck and put in her place!
1H2 tucks in
17:57 1H2 continues to tuck in while 1H3 waits her turn along with 1H1 who I suspect wants more
18:12 1H2 finishes, steps of the fish then back on
1H3 has her eyes on it and 1H2 drags it forward - 1H3 and 1H1 treading carefully incase 1H2 flies off with it
1H2 has some more! I wonder where she is putting it all
I hope 1H2 doesn't fly off with it
18:22 1H2 has had her fill and now 1H3 manages to take the fish from her
1H3 now tucks in
Maya arrives and gets a warning as 1H3 is not too happy with anyone near "her" fish
1H3 continues to feast
1H3 continues to eat and 1H1 fish calls then .....
18:53 33 arrives with another fish for 1H1 - what a superstar 33 is!!
two very happy chicks
19:01 1H3 finishes and flies off leaving the fish. 1H1 continues tucking into her fish
The chicks have been well fed, plenty fish brought to the nest and hopefully Maya will appear soon and have her share.
Off now - BFN
Morning ALL
One fish was left over night (33 collected the other) for the chicks' breakfish
04:46 1H1 arrives
04:54 33 arrives with another fish
1H2 appears
1H1 takes the fish from 33 and holds on to both of them!!
1H1 tucks in - 1H2 doesn't appear too bothered
1H3 arrives, takes one of the fish and has her breakfish
1H1 flies off leaving the fish and Maya arrives to have her share
Maya leaves followed by 1H3.
Maya then returns with the fish feeds 1H2 as 1H1 stands by
When finished they fly off, Maya taking her fish and the other left on the nest
07:03 33 arrives and collects the fish
The whole family have been well fed this morning
They are huge fish 33 brings in, Glider which is great as couple of fish feed the whole family.
My brother and his mates go down to Rutland each year fishing and I always tease them that they'll never be as good a fisherman as 33 lol
But Rutland is well stocked and there was actually an article in this week's Trout & Salmon about Rutland - here is a snippit
and couple of quotes:
"catching fish from 3-4lbs"
"With the stocking now over 40,000 since the middle of February there are plenty of fish to be caught"
So Rutland is an osprey haven - good size fish there and plenty of them - no wonder this family is well fed but of course 33 still has to go out and catch them and he does so brilliantly.
He really is one of the best - a super osprey!
