Will catch up later, but see the last page of yesterday's chat for updates from folks - including the last one from Diane!
Morning all ... site was down when I checked earlier ... said the system was being upgraded, but is up and running now. I had an early start today, taking Harry the budgie to the vet. I feel much happier now that he has been checked over by a 'small bird specialist'. He isn't so much 'ill', but has a problem with his feet .... balancing and gripping ... he is still his chirpy, liitle self! The vet thinks it could be arthritis ... or something pressing on a nerve. He has not given any treatment since Harry seems to be coping, but if it gets worse I have to take him back .... PHEW ... what a relief :-))))) Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts!!!
Valc - how lovely to see the waxwings ... they are such beautiful birds. My OH has seen them three times .... but never when I've been with him ... I'm still waiting!
margobird - your OH was very brave to try that smelly cheese ... and obviously paid for it! I hate smelly cheese! It is good to hear that Billy Whizz is becoming braver ... he must be starting to feel a bit safer around your house if he has started exploring more of the garden. Lets hope that eventually he will come to trust you completely!
Linda - lovely photo of your grandson ... his first Christmas is going to be so lovely for you all. I hope you get to see him soon.
Diane - good to hear that your snow was not too deep ... you are so good letting all the wildlife use your garage as a shelter. Red cardinals against the snow ... sounds a wonderful sight. Your new radio sounds a wonderfully useful gadget! Im glad to hear that your brother has been helpful to you.
OG - I hope the solar panel installation goes ahead without any problems. Sounds like you had a lovely meal at Powfoot Golf Hotel. I was there once with mum and dad when they lived in Cumbria ... they were visiting friends in Cummertree, and that is where they took us for lunch. Such a beautiful area.
Alan - I hope Hamish responds to the treatment this week and that he gets the all-clear on Friday.
Must go and do things now ... lots I need to do, in case the threatened snow returns on Thursday! Thanks to all for chat etc.
Take care everyone
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Morning everyone, good to see the site up and running again, much sooner than I thought.
As my Big Move countdown is now redundant I will remove it from webspace.
Have a good day all, will try to catch up later.

Joan, So pleased that news of Harry was not as bad as you feared, but I guess the poor fellow must be in some pain. Hope he improves.
Good morning all just wanted to put the following link on, a very rare visitor spotted just down the road from me. Back in a bit.

Wow Margo. Definitely the wrong time of year to see one. I have seen one in Spring in this country but I hope your's moves on quickly.
Tom, the RSPB Mod. has just confirmed that the update is now completed and up and running.
Good morning Lindybird and glad you enjoyed your shopping trip with your friend. You are just like me in that I go shopping for myself and nearly always buy something for Rhys. Poor little soul has been really poorly. Had to go into hospital as he has some sort of viral infection which caused his temperature to go really high and then he started fitting. With it being viral nothing can be given to him other than Calpol to try and bring his temperature down. He is teething a lot at the moment and just hoping that this is what is causing it. He is back home now but we all so want him to be well for his first Christmas. The whole family have gone mad with presents for him.
Billy Whizz had a bit of a scrap with a neighbour's cat that often visits our garden yesterday. Lots of hissing and snarling and he won. No damage to either of them and once things were settled he came round to his food and milk, followed by grated cheese that I leave out for the birds.
Have a good day.
Lovely pic of Sweet Pea with his toy dog. Hope you can get to see him soon when you are feeling 100%.
Good mornign Lynette hope your cold is not causing you to feel too unwell. Why is it there are always so many germs around at Christmas. Every other Christmas I usually have a really bad cold and can't go out visiting family and friends because I feel so unwell. It is not my year this time hopefully and all arrangements to visit will go ahead.
My dentist is always telling me how to brush my teeth and asking do I use floss. I have a visit in January so keeping my fingers crossed that nothing needs doing this time. Last time I went it cost over £300.
Morning all,
Glad to see the upgrade did not take too long.
Joan : Glad your budgie is ok.
Margo : Thanks to the link to the pic of the hoopoe. Never seen one myself but they do look quite exotic birds. Sorry to hear that Rhys is unwell.
OG : Hamish had a growth removed last February. In fact this is the 3rd one he has had removed. They have all been benign and the only reason he has them removed is if they are in an awkward place and keep getting knocked. It is just a breed fault I am afraid. I dont like putting him through the anaesthetic so it is a last resort to get them removed.
Weather is dull and dreich today with temp at 3.3c after overnight rain,
