I thought I might bump up this thread which goes back to 2011 (it's been bumped before) and was started by the wonderful Tiger
It contains all sorts of useful info on technical problems, handy hints for inserting photos and links and, latterly, the fact that we seem to get 'notifications' that we can't get rid of (I'm up to 6).
If nothing else, another trip down memory lane.
I shall do my best to continue but probably will spend more time just avidly watching the nests. Thanks Scylla and Karen
Does anyone know how to open a dat.image disc in Win 7?

I don't, have never had occasion to, Wendy. Is this page helpful?

Thanks Scylla, did discover that there was a 'launch.exe application in very tiny letters on reverse of the cd wallet, followed this and disc opened & whizzed through all pics on there then immediately said to find dat.file and never opened again??? Downliaded Irfanview but not much help! Well out of my depth!!
Is it a commercial CD or... ??? I gather it has photos on it ???
It is a Kodak picture cd from 2001 ... can see whats on it (my cat & kittens) as there is also a contact print sheet of teeny thumbnails
Have you tried playing it on a CD player?
On second thoughts, that's rather a silly question. I wonder if you need a certain codec for it? Could you try installing K-lite Codec Pack - the full or mega version.
As you can see, I'm floundering
I have a cd player in my laptop ... however the disc plays once when inserted but the program installation that comes with it requires Windows NT to download pics to be able to edit (some pics on their sides!) ... it's that old!!
Many thanks for your help Scylla, at least I can have a whizzy view of the pics which are just fond memories really!
Help please! My old laptop literally went up in smoke, so now have a reconditioned one without a video capture device. Recommendations please for a free download of a movie maker. I will use Ezgif for editing. This will be such a simple answer for Scylla!
