Many thanks to AG who wrote this preface to the Llyn Brenig thread for us (below)
Llyn Brenig is a reservoir on the border between Denbighshire and County Conwy in North Wales. It is managed by Welsh Water; the osprey project is a partnership between them and North Wales Wildlife Trust.
One pair of ospreys raised a single chick here each year from 2018-2020. Neither of this pair returned in 2021, when the nest was taken over by 2 Scottish birds, LJ2 (male) and LM6 (female), both 2018 chicks. The nest was vandalised the night after LM6 had laid her first egg; while the two could not continue to breed they did stay close to the site until normal migration time.
A new nest has been erected in 2022 with additional security and a streaming camera is in place. A new hide has also been built.

Aw thanks Jill, good to know.
Another fish was delivered just after 17.00. The camera is so jumpy, one minute LM6 is on the nest, next LJ2 is beside her with a fish!
It was very difficult to follow what was going on with the stopping and starting of the stream. I’d see LM6 offer food to a chick then the camera would freeze and start again once her head was up so I wasn’t sure which chick was fed or not fed. One of the chicks seemed to get more than the other. They both are still very floppy and fall over easily.
After feeding, LM6 left the fish on the nest. LJ2 came back later and finished it off.
The 2 bobs were up and calling. The smallest to the left, soon fell onto its front a couple of times before falling onto its back where it lay for most of the feed.
The other chick held its position and fed quite well. By the time the little chick got up, the first one had had enough. LM6 moved over to offer a small piece of fish to the little one but didn’t make contact. LM6 then stopped the feed leaving the fish in the middle of the nest and walked over to brood the chicks.
LJ2 must have taken the fish away as when he returned with it at 08.55, there was an extra surprise in the nest.
CHICK 3 HAS HATCHED!!
Glider said:I’m off now out for the day so won’t be able to get any more photos of the new chick until later on. Just hope LM6 manages to feed the little one who has been missing out.
I've set the cam to download here and hope it will keep going long enough to check the new chick )))
Hope you have a nice day!
