HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I hope everyone has a healthy, safe, serene week!
Outdoor Indiana, the photographic publication produced by the state of Indiana, said that the American White Pelicans are now in the southern part of the state! They're migrating north to their breeding grounds in Canada, and they should appear on the lakes in my area very soon! They're one of the largest birds in N. America with a wingspan of 9 feet. I'm always very excited to see them, because they're beautiful and their presence here means that SPRING IS COMING!!! This winter has been a particularly hard one for me. I've really felt the cold, so I'm ecstatic that warm temps are around the corner. WOO HOO!!!
Touch the pictures to enlarge them, & admire their fancy horns!!
A youngster having a rest out of the wind. Notice how well he/she is blending into the landscape!!
Lindybird: Not sure what's going on either with me or the site but for the last two weeks I've not been able to enlarge your photos. I click on one, get a grayed-out screen but nothing loads... Anyone else having this problem or is it just me?
Annette - I don't know. The Site does strange things sometimes. I had to give up on posting more of the goats pics, as the last one wouldn't load..... Now I've come back ages later, there it is!!!
I seem to be able to enlarge them by clicking on them, myself.
Dibnlib: Thanks. We went there knowing it might be cold, but knowing that the forecast was for dry weather, after all the rain we've been having. Of course, a caravan, however modern, is not as well insulated as a house!
Magnificent horns!!
On our 1st day, it was wet and the summit of Snowdon was obscured, but a day later, it was revealed as a glorious white snowy pyramid riding amongst its surrounding peaks (there are many peaks in the Snowdonia range) . I forgot to photograph it as we first saw it from the car, but on the way home noticed some of the other mountains still had snow:
ANNETTE – Some quotes and a map of our fault lines. “Adelaide has the highest relative earthquake risk of all Australian capital cities. Since 1836, South Australia has recorded six earthquakes with a magnitude level of 5.0 or greater on the Richter Scale.” “South Australia is the second most earthquake-prone of the Australian states with around 3–4 tremors each day. Most tremors are of a magnitude below 2.5, and so noteworthy only to seismologists.” “On 1 March 1954 for 20 to 30 seconds, a 5.5 Richter Scale earthquake caused damage to 3000 buildings including collapsed and cracked walls, smashed windows and collapsed chimneys mainly in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. Some houses were reduced to rubble.
LINDA – What a wonderful sight. I’d expect those goats in the Himalayas or a wildlife park.
Photos are very slow to load lately. Patience!
Back later – must get washing on. Leftover load <sigh>
Hi, bluesky2. Nice to see you!
I don't have an answer to your questions about the Visitor Centre and the LG webcam. I did look at the RSPB Loch Garten, Abernethy Facebook page, but I didn't see any specific current info. I'm not the best person to ask, though. Maybe someone else knows. Feel free to chat with us.
