02 August
Afternoon - one chick on the nest with half a mullety-looking fish that Telyn just gave him, Idris landing a whopper that nobody came for:
He looks as tho he could do with that fish himself!
Preening on the nest perch, when suddenly spies a FISH!
Dad had filled his crop and brought back some of the whopper:
It took ages to get this tail down - we never did see it disappear:
So they were both fed latish in the day.
Oops! Next session.
Idris, crop re-emptied, brings another lovely big fish!
Sibling was on the nest perch, not interested in competing for it:
The 2 chicks roosted together on the nest perch, then suddenly a parent flew in, noises heard in the nest area - parent stayed about 3 hours, flying up to the high perch a bit after 01:00.
Birdies LG DU update.
04 August evening:
This is probably what they were looking at - the cows were about to spread out beyond the nest:
Mike B said:Lovely capture of a Barn Owl on the nest perch with Ystwyth around midnight.
Thanks, MIKE - that's one that would have been skimmed over and missed, even tho it was there for a few minutes.
First it flew up to the high perch:
Then to join Ystwyth:
Then it flew away and around and returned, just for s few moments, to the low perch:
