Arrival dates
Laddie 21.3.21
NC0 25.3.21
It has been great to witness Laddie (LM12) and NC0 renew their bond and also begin to make a safe and cosy nest for impending eggs. It is encouraging to watch NC0 much more comfortable in her surroundings and hope that all continues goes well for them both from here on in.

Laddie finally took out that central white feather tuft during a preen (it's been there for many weeks!)
On the top of his beak here
9:13 Chipping heard then a flight from right to left (possibly NC0) to the birch

9:28 Laddie made a short contact call then left from the nest. He was away for a minute of two but then, with slight rustling that was heard, flew from the nest tree and round to get back to the eggs. Once again, he made contact calls on landing
Laddie has been spending a lot of time preening while on incubation duty. I am now thinking perhaps it was a case of mistaken ID on NC0's part this morning and he is getting his feathers in order? Plus the fact, wouldn't she have given chase rather than head over towards the birch while the other turned right and over the Loch?
See previous page for Scylla and Mary's videos re the 'clash' earlier this morning

Should have gone to Specsavers. Quite a clash!
It must be quite warm sitting on the nest, Laddie has been/is panting and just generally keeping his beak open
11:04 Laddie chipping
Edit - no threat seen, Laddie settled and relaxed again
11:15 NC0 returned still holding some of her fish in her left talons. Laddie was preening at the time
Laddie flapped/stretched his wings before departure
She kept a tight grip of her fish remnant when she settled to incubate
Off for a while. BBL
12:15(ish) Laddie came to the nest, chipping and looking skyward on a few occasions. He didn't stay long
13:00 NC0 flapping, chipping/mantling at an unseen intruder. It may have come close to the nest, she was mantling as wing flaps could be heard.
There was distant chipping once NC0 settled back to incubate
13:10 She was chipping again and looking skyward.
