GLASLYN OSPREYS - APRIL 2021 to end of FEB 2022

As gathered by PATILY, MrsG roosted on the perch overnight:

She flew off well into daycam a couple of hours ago - it was an hour and a half before she came back and took up position as described, and she steadfastly watched towards Aran's tree for about half an hour until she looked our way a few minutes ago:

Something attracted her attention and she stared 'n stared and flew off in that direction:

MrsG is back on the perch now.

Aran's been warding off corvids.  Relaxing now, but observant - this is a live snap

I'm packing up now.

Thanks goodness today seems to have been quieter than yesterday!  The only intruder calls I have heard has been Mrs G yelling at corvids.  Aran and Mrs G are now sitting together in the old oak tree.

Today was our second to last day of volunteering at Glaslyn for this season and it was the wettest day we have had in the several years we have volunteered there while on our holiday, but we managed mostly to stay dry in spite of that. It helps that in addition to the visitor centre itself, there is a canopy over the visitor welcoming table (which is outside of the VC) and a hide to retreat to when chatting with visitors and disinfecting the scopes between visiting groups. We particularly enjoyed one family. The youngest child is completely obsessed with Ospreys and with all birds. The children seem know more than their parents about birds and nearly as much as the volunteers know about Ospreys! The children watch Osprey webcams. They know that North American Kestrels are not identical to European Kestrels. They also know how old the female Albatross on Midway Island is and what her name is. They watch the webcam of the New Zealand Royal Albatrosses, too. The parents wisely encourage their children in their interest in birds. Chatting with all of them was delightful.
