March thread.
This post updated 01 June
MrsG returned on the 25th of March and was joined by Aran on the 29th.
(The beginning of the reunion video is a must-see for all fans of MrsG - I'm posting it today 01 June, to remind us of a happy time before the tragedies of May 2021.)
The month of May brought unrelenting wind, rain and corvids, as well as persistent intruder KS8 (among others) - and Aran somehow injured his right wing, rendering him unable to fish. Within a few days all the chicks had sickened and died. It could hardly have been more stressful for MrsG and Aran, but they are recovering together while the caring Glaslyn team is supplying fish each night.
(The chicks' bodies have been removed from the nest by Aran and MrsG, so we shall never know the cause of their deaths.)
In the right margin of this page are links to Glaslyn's posts documenting the misfortunes on the nest.

Unknown said:May I just ask on this thread if anyone has heard if the policy at Glaslyn is to continue to provide fish to the nest whilst the male (Aran) is incapacitated. My guess is that they would do so.
Hiya Keith (nice to see you!) - I don't think they have a policy, as such - I think that Glaslyn are "making it up as they go along", not having been in this situation before. As you may know, they sought advice from Tim Mackrill before supplying fish. Obviously MrsG can fish if her hormones will let her now. but if she didn't share with Aran he could be in trouble. Glaslyn will surely continue to supply fish.
I'm thinking aloud now, always dangerous, I might have to shield myself against a lecture...
Scenes from this morning:
Just saw this mentioned on chat a short time ago from a commenter. Perhaps BGGW have already stated this?
"...the team will supply fish until they are sure Aran can catch his own."
Aran has just flown with a fish for the first time! Taken it to the perch to eat. (To note, he did not catch it)
Latest from Glaslyn: 'Despite the sadness of the last few days, we do have some positive news for you this evening. Aran has managed to fly with a fish in his talons for the first time since Thursday last week! We were thrilled to see him successfully fly off the nest with the fish and land next to Mrs G on the perch to finish it off. This is a positive step forward and gives us hope that he can make a full recovery.'
Great news, so pleased that Aran is getting stronger and that he looks to be making a full recovery, after whatever happened to him. Thanks Glaslyn for keeping up the fish deliveries.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
