March thread.
This post updated 01 June
MrsG returned on the 25th of March and was joined by Aran on the 29th.
(The beginning of the reunion video is a must-see for all fans of MrsG - I'm posting it today 01 June, to remind us of a happy time before the tragedies of May 2021.)
The month of May brought unrelenting wind, rain and corvids, as well as persistent intruder KS8 (among others) - and Aran somehow injured his right wing, rendering him unable to fish. Within a few days all the chicks had sickened and died. It could hardly have been more stressful for MrsG and Aran, but they are recovering together while the caring Glaslyn team is supplying fish each night.
(The chicks' bodies have been removed from the nest by Aran and MrsG, so we shall never know the cause of their deaths.)
In the right margin of this page are links to Glaslyn's posts documenting the misfortunes on the nest.

15 July
Before MrsG went anywhere Aran flew in and they both stayed for some time on the nest together. It was an incomplete view.
The cam went down and it was changed from old to new, I've got a lot missing therefore.
I didn't find anyone on-cam for the rest of the day and all night.
16 July
Aran was first in in the morning a bit before 05:00, he pottered for a few minutes and flew. No-one seen since up to now.
Birdies LG DU update.
17 July
MrsG appeared out of nowhere @ about 04:15:
She stood on the far side of the nest for about 5 minutes, then to the perch for half an hour, then away she flew.
Soon after, the distinctive form of Aran flew in - he stayed about 20 minutes:
I guess we had a GSW on the perch but the cam proved too unwieldy to focus before it flew off:
Where are they taking the cattle?
That's it up to just now - the cam is looking a bit hesitant, hope it keeps going.

Blue 494 is the only chick to hatch from a clutch of three to Blue 014 (Poole Harbour 2018) and her mate, Z2/Aeron (Dyfi 2017). He weighed 1236g with a wing length of 273mm. Congratulations and thank you to Friends of the Ospreys for inviting us to capture and share this experience. The beginning of a new era for Ospreys in the Glaslyn Valley."
Many thanks, Korky.!
What a wonderful ringing video it is that accompanies their Fb post
I thought of dear Monty and Glesni while watching, what would have been, their gorgeous grandchick being so very carefully handled...

Yes a great video. It looks like they took a feather for DNA/sexing purposes. Is it just me or does everyone else get a bit nervous watching them ringing? eg putting on the BTO ring with the pliers, carefully made of course to go ROUND the leg and not crush it, using glue to fix the coloured ring on - hoping none of the glue gets on their feet, or feathers when they measure the length after using the glue.....Maybe I'm over thinking things, again.....?!
