I appears we have an interloper.  Glaslyn chat said

16:12  Lynne (Bird7) Shepherd  KS8 has been on Llyn Brenig perch, arrived 15.50 appx stayed about 14mins.

Blue KS8(18)f fledged at Clywedog and I think has been seen there this year.

As far as I can tell she was there for about twenty minutes, and appeared to be food soliciting??  Looking down and calling occasionally.  I wonder whether the potential resident male is sitting on the illegal nest, below.

It's very dark, but I think the ring reads KS8 - and neither LM6f nor LJ2m - but perhaps others with a keener eye might be able to tell!

I can't confirm the times with no time line but an osprey appeared again at around 16.54 - and a dark back of head.  I have no idea who it is LOL

17.04 ish is flew to the lower pine branch behind the pine, just below the first turbine on the left

and flew off again ca 17.16

Edit:  Sami said on Glaslyn chat - think she/he vols at Glaslyn?

16:01 Sami  KS8 is on the perch at Llyn Brenig.

  • Great observations, thank you Sheila
  • Not sure this will work as I'm on my tablet, but Brenig team have confirmed. But my link doesn't work

    Perhaps this does https://fb.watch/v/5jn6L5Yie/

We had a visitor this evening (July 9th) as KS8, a female who hatched on the Llyn Clywedog nest in mid-Wales in 2018. visited the Llyn Brenig perch.
She seemed to be soliciting for food which would suggest that there was another osprey nearby. This may have been LJ2 who seems to like sitting on top of the camera and just before this recording there was a large shake which could have been him landing on that spot.

    Clywedog

    Snippets.

Dylan with a big stick - no kerfuffle but solo chick clucked a bit.

Some scenes thru the day till afternoon:

I am tickled pink to have made a breakthru in sound enhancement, when it seems that nothing will work.  Just in case anyone else ever comes up against the problem - have a look for very high spikes and just "treat" the sound on either side of those spikes, as they are telling the software that max has already been reached.

Now you know what I've been doing all evening, and how long it takes me to twig cos I'm so fick.

KS8 has been on Llyn Brenig perch

No stream here all day, they changed the URL while I was "absent" - so I recorded the whole lot from YT rollback but can't get satisfactorily short vid from it so here was KS8 on the fir bough as you described, and flying off diagonally downwards:

  • Thank you so much Scylla. It is still not easy to be convinced, but if they say so!
And on Clywedog, what a super vid of Solo's glee at wing flapping. I just love those squeals!

  • Called in at Brenig on our way home to Yorkshire, didn't see any birds, but they say it was KS8 from Clywedog. Pleased to hear that the investigation into the dreadful events are still being pursued.
  • How interesting, Cathy. Let's hope there is a positive outcome, with a reason why.
