EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
I read of this on the BBC News site not long ago and came rushing here to share my sorrow.....it took ages to get here. This is truly tragic after last year's fiasco. Senseless tragedy by total morons. Is there no 24/7 team watching the nest? The twitter feed suggests not, when they say "Brenig Osprey Project partners woke up this morning". The centre cam must have been working for them to say it happend at 21.42. Words just escape me on how angry I am about this wanton act of violence.

Stay strong guys. If you need anything at all, just ring.
BBC Wales news has published an article about it

and this mentioned here.

In August, a pair of ospreys fled their nest at Llyn Brenig due to disruption from a reality television show which was being filmed at the reservoir.
There had been fears the pair wouldn't return to Llyn Brenig - fears which will be even greater after Friday's incident.
Anyone with information in relation to this incident is urged to call North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference number 2059734.
North Wales Police have put out a video from Llyn Brenig, with a statement from the Rural Crime team manager who is on site at Brenig. It includes the camera view of the nest during the attack, and the chainsaw can be heard. I am not reposting here because I think it will be too upsetting. If it pricks the conscience of someone who knows the perpetrator, great.
We need to make sure that speculation about the reason for the wickedness does not drive a wedge between the birding community and other groups. I have seen too many posts which say it must be related to fishing. We don't know, NWP are working hard, and we need to let them do their work .
Kind regards, Ann
