Kielder hatched Y6 seen today in The Gambia
Update on some nests
Many thanks for all the updates jaydee. They are most informative, particularly as a catch-up when I've been away.
I have just watched the Northumberland WT video about the ospreys at Kielder, and I think this link is still live, so you can watch it here. I was saddened to hear of a death of a Kielder bird "in Europe", and assume it was Y6(16)f from Nest 2 who was found in Spain and subsequently died. She had a broken leg and was unable to perch or fish. I felt it particularly poignant as she had been seen in 2017 at Tanji, 2018 by Fansu and Joanna, 2019 she returned to the UK and landed at LotL for ten minutes, and then seen back at Tanji in November. In 2020 she was again see at Tanji and again, I think, intruded at LotL before breeding for the first time near Aberfeldy and had two chicks. She must have been on the last leg of her return migration in 2021 when she came to grief. So sad to know such a lot about a bird for it all to end like this.
Great to hear of a new observatory at Tower Knowe which will open, I think, next year. It will have nest 7 within sight by bins and scopes. The nest with a view!
