  • Can anyone help me? My niece lives near Radstock, Somerset. Most mornings (early) she sees what she describes as 'a huge bird with a hooked beak and brown plumage with a lighter chest'. Do you know whether an osprey has been seen in that area? If not, any ideas what it could be? Her description is not very clear ...
  • There was one at Shapwick Heath yesterday, that's about the nearest on the list since the start of the month
  • Thanks, Alan. That's quite a distance away - but I guess not impossible. I'll try to get more information.
  • Pat. the word 'Huge' could possibly indicate a Sea Eagle and they roam far and wide. Perhaps your niece could look at this site :-www.roydennis.org/.../ which has many photos of the birds and one with a Buzzard mobbing it. I wonder if a Buzzard is a good candidate for her sighting anyway?
