    Can anyone help me? My niece lives near Radstock, Somerset. Most mornings (early) she sees what she describes as 'a huge bird with a hooked beak and brown plumage with a lighter chest'. Do you know whether an osprey has been seen in that area? If not, any ideas what it could be? Her description is not very clear ...

    There was one at Shapwick Heath yesterday, that's about the nearest on the list since the start of the month

    Pat. the word 'Huge' could possibly indicate a Sea Eagle and they roam far and wide. Perhaps your niece could look at this site :-www.roydennis.org/.../ which has many photos of the birds and one with a Buzzard mobbing it. I wonder if a Buzzard is a good candidate for her sighting anyway?
