Hi everyone: Have a nice Sunday. Don't forget to catch up on last few entries of previous week - AQ is havng a hard time sleeping coz of the heat!!
Daughter here for the night; catch up tomorrow. :-)
OH’s plumbing repair was successful. After lunch, we pootled down to Gretna Gateway to see what was about – answer was (part of) Annan Town Band playing Christmas carols and a fairy on stilts tickling passers by with her magic flower! Bought a few things such as new frying pan, a railway book for OH and a nice cardigan for me. Called at a small local “Winter Wonderland” to assess as somewhere to take the girls next Saturday – should be good. Bought a lovely Little Ringed Plover ornament for study window sill while we were there.
Thanks to all for posts and pics today – too many for individual replies, so just a few.
Alan – I hope Hamish is still doing well.
Dibnlib – that young Grey (I think) Seal is beautiful! Will watch out fro Polar Bear prog.
Annette – pleased you have been in touch with Diane – I think she will have had some snow, going by views on Trucker cam when Steve passed through Indiana. I keep thinking of her and wishing we could be there with her.
George – pleased to “see” you again – had been missing you.
Sheila – sorry it was such a long and difficult journey for you and your Bro to visit Aunt. I hope someone can convince her that she can enjoy life in a care home, and should really not have stairs to climb. OH and I gave up presents for each other years ago, but we enjoy sharing shopping for little extras for each other or the two of us.
Margobird – what a lovely ecard – thank you so much!
Lindy – so sorry you feel unwell again and had to miss visit to Sweetpea. Get well soon! … And now I see the chapter of mishaps for the week – oh, poor you!
Patricia – so sorry Dog Agility had to be postponed – and that you had a hard time contacting folks.
Brenda – so sorry about the Ballet tickets disappointment, but glad you enjoyed time with Daughter.
Need to start to wrap up the day – and the week. Hope everyone will be well and have a good rest-of-the-weekend.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Evening all, thanks for all your news.
OG - like the pic of the Bovver Boyz, also the one of the robin in the frosted tree that you said your OH took - I have it as a desktop background, it looks great.
dibnib - like the picture of the seal.
Alan - thanks for info on the Dunedin sight.
Lindybird - you sound as though you're having a bit of a rough time. Just learned that my brother and his partner has had what sounds like the same bug. I've come down with a throaty one although its not sore, just croaky and I've started sneezing a lot, not unusual, but it looks like another cold coming out - don't normallly do colds but have had three in the last three months. Is somebody telling me something. Anyway, less of my prattling on, get better and then you can go and visit your grandson.
Junior Church Chrstmas party went very well, I was seconded to do the cooking - we gave them nuggetts and chips or pizza and chips then icecream with toppings. Went down well. They enjoyed doing craft items and played a few games, followed by a talent contest. All very convivial, mind you I felt tired afterwards.
Moulton 77 Brass Band carol concert tomorrow night and then our two carol services by candlelight next Sunday (19th) - one family one and one traditional - should be good.
Take care all, God Bless, and see you on tomorrows chat page.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Hi, all. I want to thank all of you who offered condolences and support to me. Your comments were very comforting, and I can't even begin to express how much I appreciated your kindness. I haven't posted because I was dangerously exhausted from caring for my Dad during his decline and then staying in the hospital with him. The calling and funeral were held yesterday.
We had both services in one day because I wanted to get them over before the predicted winter storm. We have heavy freezing rain right now, but we are due to get significant snow and high winds. Temps will be around 0F/-18C, and wind chill temps could drop as low as -20F/-29C in the next day or two (look out, Gary!). I heard that you all in Scotland have already had dangerous winter weather. Seems like it's starting early this year.
I'm not going to move back to Indianapolis. I never really liked the city, and I love living here in the woods with my birds and other wildlife. The big pileated woodpecker flew right over me and screeched a welcome back when I arrived home this week. The big fella was very comforting in a loud, severe sort of way. LOL I don't know yet what I'm going to do about a job/money. I think I'll take a month and remodel the house -- now that I can dedicate myself to the job -- and then make a decision about the future.
I don't think I can catch up with everyone. Sorry. I did notice a couple of items:
Alan: I'm so glad that Hamish the Brave is healing well!!!
Annette: So sorry about your new TV. That's awful. I think I'd demand to speak to a manager at Panasonic and give him or her an earful. They should give you a new TV, in my humble opinion.
Lindy: Sorry you aren't feeling well. I was glad to read that little Thomasz is settling into life on the outside. :-)
OG: Sorry about the busted pipe. Sounds like you got your son the perfect gift. I hope he finds a good job soon and life improves for him. I've enjoyed your photos, as always.
Auntie: Enjoy your time off. Nurses work so hard, and they are very dedicated and special people.
For those of you who feed birds: This is a disturbing article, but it describes a mysterious disease that is spreading among many species of birds on our west coast, and I thought you might want to read it so you can watch for it in the UK. http://blog.nature.org/2010/12/black-capped-crossbill-i-dont-think-so/
Everyone stay warm and take care.
Starting new thread.
Edit: I have deleted this item, it belongs in next week's chat, sorry!
