Weekly Chat, Sunday, December 5, 2010

Hi everyone: Have a nice Sunday. Don't forget to catch up on last few entries of previous week - AQ is havng a hard time sleeping coz of the heat!!

Daughter here for the night; catch up tomorrow.  :-)

  • Weather ok.  Split pipe in garage again although OH had turned water off.  It’s plastic pipe, well accessible and just in the one place, so he intends to sort it himself rather than rely on insurance who took forever to get here last time due to miscommunication with contractor and sub-contractor.  Got gifts wrapped last night, so quick visit to local Post Office this morning.  Phoned Dau#1 yesterday before shopping and discussed presents for Son (her Brother).  Decided we would both send Tesco cards which give him the flexibility to enjoy shopping for DVDs or clothes etc, or use them to buy food if he gets desperate!  But we are both sending something to unwrap too – so OH and I are sending a few small things, individually wrapped and in then a box – but mostly practical because he doesn’t have space for silly extras anyway.

Lynette – I hope you survive the SS Party – I find kids so demanding these days – they just don’t seem to know how to have fun.  Our Town Band Carol Service is next week, but we shall have been to a different event in the afternoon – and our other Carol service is a weeknight with a 7:30 start.  I think I am turning into a Grumpy here!

AQ – spring-cleaning for Christmas seems to make so much sense!  Please can we have our Christmas in summer?  Looking forward to the Bear-cam switch-on!

Annette – so sorry about your nightmare day – I hope you are getting a good night’s sleep.  I would have sent carrot cake if it were at all possible – wondered about eating it for you, but decided against the calories!

Auntie – enjoy your restful first day off – and don’t do too much for the other 3 days either!  I hope you and your Mum will have a great lunch together too.

These were some of “The Bovver Boyz” on Tuesday:

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Morning all,

Annette: I am sorry you had a difficult day. Surprised about the probs with Panasonic tele. We have had ours for 2 or 3 years now with no problems. I always thought Panasonic and Sony were the most reliable.

Auntie: Enjoy your days off. You certainly deserve them.

Og: Thanks for the starling pic. They are great characters. No lamshade for Hamish as it hurts his neck so we will just have to keep an eye on him.

Thanks to everyone else for their chat.

Hamish is fine and has had his walk and been fed. Post op check is on monday.

Weather is sunny and mild but damp underfoot.

    Have a good saturday

  • Good morning all and thanks for the posts.  Alan I am so pleased Hamish is fine and can just imagine your relief.  Sounds as though he took it all in his stride.  Pleased he has eaten and been for his walk.

Annette  sorry you had rather a frustrating day.  Our last two TV's have been Panasonic and we have had no problems at all ( perhaps I shouldn't say that it will probably go wrong on us now).  Wishing you a better day when your morning arrives.

auntie hope you are enjoying your break, you certainly deserve it.  Sounds very cold with that wind you have.

  • Good morning original goldfinch hope you don't have to wait too long in the Post Office.  I have had two long waits this week, one for my pension and another finding out how much cards cost to send to Canada and France.  Also since the change in letter sizes lots of other cards had to check I had the right value in stamps.  OH is out shopping and rang to say had I done a card for some friends of his from the Italian Club he goes to.  Of course they were not on my list  so have sorted one out for him to send, one to add for next year.  These are the friends that cooked a delightful meal for us, Italian of course, and we then took them out to our favourite Italian restuarant.

Love the photo of the “The Bovver Boyz” their markings shows up so well against the snow.  I know lots of people are not too fond of starlings but I love them.  They are so funny to watch and of course they give us the marvellous sights of their murmerations.

  • Good morning dibnlib  glad you loved the card.  How lovey to see "The Snowman" as a ballet.  Must have a look through the Radio Times and find out when it is on over Christmas.

Glad bro is home safe and sound and had a wonderful gime, he certainly deserved it.  Must have been a bit of a shock coming back to this extreme weather.

    Have a good weekend.
