Weekly Chat, Sunday, December 5, 2010

Hi everyone: Have a nice Sunday. Don't forget to catch up on last few entries of previous week - AQ is havng a hard time sleeping coz of the heat!!

Daughter here for the night; catch up tomorrow.  :-)

  • margobird that is brilliant made me smile did that

OG : Current temp is +3.2c and rising so maybe I will wear my shorts to walk Hamish later . LOL

good idea,, suggest blue shorts to go with blue legs!!!!1

  • Morning all:   Sunny here; nice view of PortaPotty through the Duranta - well, it beats having workmen in incredibly muddy boots slogging down the hall to "my" bathroom.  I'm sure the neighbors are thrilled but oh well, it's not permanent.   Had a surprise  yesterday when UPS (United Parcel Service) delivered some slippers I'd ordered - by bicycle!!  The guy knocked on the front door; OH opened it and we noticed he was wearing a bike helmet.  Apparently, during the holiday season, UPS has invited volunteer drivers to switch to bikes for local deliveries - the distribution center is just across the freeway from us. Our guy was thrilled; said it was a great way to stay ahead of all the holiday treats back at the office.

Margobird: Lovely card; wonder if it's a Jaquie Lawson - will have to check. I know a little girl who'd like it.

Alan: Hope you found the sunscreen and shorts before the sun went down. Also good wishes to gorgeous little Hamish tomorrow!

Auntie: Do you have one of those special sunlamps that we read about to make sure you get your daily dose of sunshine?  If not, I'll bundle some into a bag and send it off post-haste. You need to keep your energy up with all that hard work!

Thanks all for pix and jolly chat. Stay warm - and that goes for AQ too, waiting for summer Down Under!

  • Brilliant card Margo.

Everyone Thanks for the good wishes for Hamish tomorrow.

  • Alan, LOL on the shorts! I know I;m late but good luck to Hamish, and you, for tomorrow.

Wendy, hope Daisy recovers nice and quickly. Good that she like's the vets:)

Margobird, fantastic card, thanks so much. I;ve already sent it on.

Annette, that sounds a great idea for the deliveries. How long is the work due to go on at your place?

  • Annette: Do you think my RSPB bird food order could come by bike?

Gary: I gather Daisy is back to her normal self now. Daughter had 10 days of a stroppy Bull Terrier who thinks she is a greyhound!!

  • Wendy, that's good news. Not good to have a stroppy dog! Sounds quick on her feet as well.

  • Ironing pile depleted but not finished – need to sit down.  Sun went down at plus 2 degrees!!  Some white stuff still to melt.

Alan – maybe it will reach 4°C tomorrow – but I don’t expect you to wear shorts to the vet’s – you might frighten some of the patients!!  Seriously, I hope all goes well for dear Hamish – and you.

Margo – what a beautiful animated Christmas card – thank you so much for sharing it.  I think this shows the difference between childlike and childish – let’s enjoy simple innocent images such as this.

Wendy – pleased to hear that Daisy May came through her op well, and that you had a more pleasant trip to Elgin today.  Our RSPB delivery, ordered a day or so after yours, arrived this Tuesday – except two extra ground trays which were out of stock but came today..

Dibnlib – loved the blue shorts for blue legs suggestion!!

Annette – local deliveries by bike – excellent idea.  Healthier (and happier) staff, parcels delivered to correct address and greener too!  Son suffers from SAD through winter – doesn’t help his present situation.

Extra bird.  Never thought I would find a B H Gull looking pretty, but I love this one resting on the garden arch last week!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Been catching up again on your news.

Love the pics of the birds.

Margobird - absolutely brilliant ecard - which sight did you get it from. Must post it to friends, its great

Managed to finish wrapping a few more presents today - getting there slowly.

Unfortunately can only get to the gym once a week as I don't drive and have to rely on OH to take me.

Not a lot been happening today - weather has been reasonable but not quite as cold, mind you they are saying that by the end of the weekend temperatures will drop again.

    Keep warm and safe all,

  • Housework done and only some of the ironing. All took me longer than I thought so didn't manage to do any shopping. Plans to see daughter on Saturday have changed as OH has managed to get tickets for the Nutcracker for tomorrow night, which daughter wanted to see, so will shop in London tomorrow before dinner and the ballet. We will stay the night with daughter so we will see her on Saturday, her Birthday, before we return home and she goes to work for the night shift.

OG loved your description of the receding snow and rising temperatures. Thanks for the lovely tit photograph.

Alan, Probably too late, but best wishes to Hamish and yourself for tomorrow. I should imagine that you feel worse than Hamish as you know what he is facing.

Dibnlib, I hope you are feeling a little better this evening. Loved the blue shorts/ blue legs remark.

jsb, Thanks for the link to those enjoyable photographs.

Margo, Brilliant Christmas card. Thanks. I have played it a few times.

Annette, Your delivery man on the bike sounds a brilliant idea but it did make me remember some of Linda's Monday Smiles and the overloaded vehicles and bikes.

Just watched the News and the actions of some of the violent students, even attacking Charles and Camilla's car. If these are the future of Britain, God help us. I don't understand why demonstrations have to be so violent and I wonder, how many were even genuine students.

'See' you All sometime maybe Saturday evening / Sunday.
