Hi everyone: Have a nice Sunday. Don't forget to catch up on last few entries of previous week - AQ is havng a hard time sleeping coz of the heat!!

Daughter here for the night; catch up tomorrow.  :-)

  • Good afternoon Gary thanks for the pics of the new arrivals.  Really melted my heart, so cute and Mum is beautiful as well.

  • Margobird  I did manage to see one set with Mansour Bahrami.  I just love to watch him play.  Your mentioning him has made be check out his bio again.  I thought that although he was a brilliant player it was the politics in Iran made it unlikely he would get a passport to travel, and so failed to hit the world tours.  However, I was wrong.  It appears he wasn't allowed to play as a child!  He sneaked onto a court but was found and his racket destroyed so he continued hitting balls using such implements as frying pans! It was only when the team was short of a player he had the opportunity and joined in the Davis team.  Then, during the Iran Revolution, tennis was banned and he turned to backgammon, and then fled to France where he gambled away his money in casinos!  Too old to make his mark in singles, he found his forte in doubles and than became part of the Champions tour.  I remember seeing him playing with Becker soon after Becker had retired.  I don't think Becker actually appreciated the humour and wit, not to say the talent, with which Bahrami played, and seemed to be taking it far too seriously to begin with.  Then he twigged, and joined in the fun, with both of them playing from the baseline sitting on seats!!  I was pleased to see that Goran Ivanisevic won the men's singles, and even more pleased to see that Djokovic was beaten!!

  • We were minus 11 this morning – and that’s on the “Costa del Solway” – hate to think what it was “up north”!  Lovely sunshine, and reached minus 5 before lunch – now minus 8!  About 30 Starlings are sunning themselves on neighbouring roof!  Both been very busy in the kitchen – baking to freeze so we shall be ready for Dau#1 etc on 18th and Son’s possible visit for 25th and/or 31st.  Still got more stuff I hope to do – can only do a bit at a time, and have OH running about fetching and carrying – he’s so good.

Lynette – sorry about the pulled ligament – ouch!  Lovely winter tree photo.

Patricia – must be hard having to keep 4 dogs mostly indoors – but, as you say, dangerous getting out to exercise them – take care!  Pleased you are getting a scope – makes quite a difference.  Oh, just seen, you have more snow!  Lovely to have Linnets in the garden.

Annette – I hope the Lizards are finding safe hidey-holes to get them through the upheaval. Pleased about the path being done.

Margo – sorry you suffer with vandalism from the local park – it’s just crazy that they get their thrills causing damage.  We used to use a slow cooker, but decided it made everything taste the same, and gave up on it.  Didn’t really need it as I was always at home. I do cook a lot of things slowly at a low temp in the oven, which I suppose is uneconomical, but won’t be so bad when we start generating in daytime from PV panels next week!

Gary – your post made it sound like you ran away for a few days because oven blew up!  Absolutely loved the Puppy photos, and the Mum looks so contented, but quite tired!

Sue – thanks for mentioning new Blog – will have a look after posting this.

Today’s bird photo (taken Tuesday morning after Monday evening snow):

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Coo Gary, your wonderful photos weren't there when I last wrote!  How positively gorgeous!  A first suggestion is perhaps rather obvious, but how about 'Rover'!!

  • MARGO thanks for the bit about Bahrami.  I wondered why I didn't hear of him until the Seniors at Wimbledon.

GARY  AAAAAAAAAH need I say more.    We have a Volvo and think that would make a good name.

  • Oh Gary - cute puppies!  How about Audi (as in audacious!) for the cheekiest one?  Their mum i beautiful, isn't she?

  • Oh Gary, what beautiful pups. My immediate thoughts of names are Herbie ( the love bug)  or Robin ( Renault ) .

  • Gary  I've just thought of another name:  Phantom, as in Rolls Royce.

  • More pup names, Alfa Romeo Giulietta, - Skoda Octavia, -  Bentley  and even - Mini .

  • Thanks for all the fantastic names Brenda, Shelia, Dibnlib and Patriciat. I'm passing them all on. Glad it's not me having to choose as I like loads of them:)

Sue, it is a great way to tell them apart. They look alike to me!

OG, lovely photo, thanks:) the wording of my post could have been better! lol. Think I meant to say I'm not very good at keeping up with everything all the time. Lacking true multi tasking skills!

Hope everyones doing OK:) Had a quick read back.

Dibnlib, how are you getting on with recovering from the broken limb?
