Hi everyone: Have a nice Sunday. Don't forget to catch up on last few entries of previous week - AQ is havng a hard time sleeping coz of the heat!!
Daughter here for the night; catch up tomorrow. :-)
Good afternoon dibnlib I am looking forward to seeing "The Panda Makers", couldn't watch last night as OH managed to get back from his overnight business trip in London to watch the football. I agree that final sentence really does impact, they are such wonderful creatures. I have been watching the Atlanta Zoo webcam where they had a panda birth a couple of weeks ago. It only comes on line at about 3pm our time but if you have a chance do have a look, Mum looking very contented with her little one.
Margobird
Good afternoon Lynette sorry to read about your pulled ligament. I thought a good stretch first thing was good for you but apparently not. It if do that I often get cramp in my calves and that really makes me jump out and move around.
Lovely picture of the tree covered in frost. The weather has provided a lot of stunning photographs but feel so sorry for all in the North of England and Scotland as conditions are very difficult. They have just said on the weather forecast that a slight thaw will happen tomorrow but as temperatures will remain below freezing at night it is going to bring even more problems with ice.
Good afternoon original goldfinch I must agree with you about not wanting to post after we heard the sad news of Diane's father. It didn't seem right somehow as we all knew he so much enjoyed this forum. Been thinking of Diane a lot today.
Love the story of the cat having a larder under a tree. I always think cats are very clever but poor pheasants. I remember the cold winter of 1963 very well. After I had done by basic training I was posted up to Catterick for my trade training (teleprinter operator) and we lived in wellies for the three months I was there and snow covered the ground the whole of the time. Billy Whizz has started to explore my back garden now so he is obviously becoming a little more confident about us.
Your OH is to be congratulated on that exquisite picture of the robin. Would make a lovely Christmas card.
Good afternoon WendyB we think Billy is probably part feral hence his nervousness but I have just mentioned in a previous post that he is now exploring our back garden which he hasn't done before so maybe he is beginning to trust us a little more. Can't get close enough to see his pads on his feet but I will be patient and maybe he will reach the stage where i can get much closer to him.

Good afternoon SheilaFE what a shame you missed the tennis on Sunday. This is where we should have been on Sunday but due to my tummy bug were unable to go. It is very entertaining and so nice to see some of the players I much admired when they were younger. The doubles at the end are worth the ticket money alone. What a shame that Mansour Bahrami was never allowed to play outside of his country. He was such a talent and I am sure would have won a lot of tournaments. The last time we went I got his autograph and book and what a nice man. Very romantic as well, he met is wife originally when he was at some traffic lights In Paris on New Years Eve and told himself that he would marry her and eventually did and still together all these years on.
Billy Whizz is getting a little braver all the time bless him and OH talking about get him some sort of shelter. For the moment he seems quite content with his tree house and as long as he has food and milk is quite happy. I don't know whether he will ever let us have him indoors but we will wait and see.
I am hoping to fly to Inverness from Southampton when I go to LG, much quicker and probably cheaper than the train. I guess I will be pleased to do whatever shift they require me to do as I will just be so happy to be there.
What a terrible journey for your friend and I hope she has a better journey back. The weather in Scotland is certainly making travel of any kind so difficult.
Lots of birds in my garden and even a cuuple of fieldfare, but not a flock as you have. Shame the farmer has to move the birds out with his tractor. They all must be struggling at the moment trying to get enough food. i am amazed you have been snow free, can't be many places where there has not been any snow now. I think the termperature has just about got above freezing here today and at the moment the sun is trying to come out but rather late in the day now.
Good afternoon to all not mentioned by name. Hope you are safe and warm.
OG got back from his business trip to London OK at about 7.00 last night. We have a park which backs on to our property and now and then have trouble with youths intent on causing damage. Not long before he cam in I hear a clunk on the roof and once again a half filled beer can had been thrown. We have had to replace roof tiles twice before. Luckily this time there doesn't seem to be any damage. When OH got home he said did I know that some of the fence panels had been kicked. I didn't but asuume it was the same group who did it. I called the police but always ask them not to call at my door in case we have yet more trouble. Don't know what is wrong with these youngsters, never happy unless they are causing damage to property. We had to have several panes of glass replaced in our greenhouse a few months ago as there were some youths with catapults firing stones over the fence at it. Of course by the time the police arrive they have usually disappeared. OH and I not happy at all.
I used to have a slow cooker some years back and when it broke I did not replace it until now. OH came home with one last week and so I have made paprika chicken which is cooking as I type and it smells wonderful. Looking forward to my dinner tonight. Amazing what you can cook in them and apparently they are excellent for making risotto so that will be the next thing I have a go at. Once all the chicken and veg were prepared which takes a little time, everything goes in together and cooks away for 6 hours and if OH is a bit late coming in from work, which he often is, nothing is spoilt.
I had better stop rattling on now but take care of yourselves and keep warm.
afternoon everyone:)
Haven't posted for a while. Seemed to have got too much to do, the oven element blew up and went away for a couple of days.
Diane, I'm so sorry to read the news of your dad. I'm sure he appreciated all you did for him. Never know what more to say as there's nothing to say to change the hurt at the moment. Take care xx
Next door';s dog has produced her puppies:) all 6 of them. The theme for names is "cars", either car/brands/songs with cars in them. So, any suggestions welcome:)
NEW BLOG from Jayne at LG - more snow & ice pictures, and Rothes is fine.
Diane so sorry to hear about your Dad, thinking of you.
