Good morning Lindybird and thanks I feel a lot better today. Hope OH gets over his cold and the weather improves so you go and see Tomasz again very soon. Glad he is doing so well bless him.
We think we know where Billy Whizz goes for cover now. We have a very thick fir tree in our front garden and on Saturday we noticed the lower part of it was moving. We thought Billy had gone over the fence but no, he hides himself right in the tree half way up and is well protected. He has hiw own little tree house. Was looking out of the bedroom window just now and saw him appear from inside the tree. He goes about half way up and obviously likes his little home. Just peeped out of the ktichen window and he has had a feed and a drink and is now washing himself. Perhaps we are making ground with him and he didn't usually stop when he had finished his food and milk.
I am being extremely careful when sorting my birds out several times a day at the moment. Fortunately the ice rink on the patio melted and only a small part of it still has ice on it. Take care if you do have to go out. It is freezing here and I got absolutely frozen sweeping up after the birds, putting the food out and filling the bird baths. The sparrow are still bathing every day, must be such hardy little souls.
Good morning TerryM so pleased that you are going to volunteer at Bassenthwaite, so much to look forward to. They have a late evening shift at LG at the time I am going, it finsihes at 10.00 and of course it will be still be light. Smiled at your comment about running through the woods, no way I could run after anyone now.
Shame the bad weather is spoiling things for you with regard to rehearsals, hope it will improve a bit and all can go ahead for you.
Good morning Lynette like the sledge and as you say the children love it. I used to once but not now. Can't believe how cold it still is even Billy Whizz'z milk is freezing over.
Hello to all not mentioned by name, hope you are coping and managing to keep warm.
Good morning WendyB what a lot of pheasants. They must be very grateful to you for their food. I am starting to get a bit concerned for all our wildlife in these extreme conditions. Having said that even though it is bitterly cold here my sparrows are singing their heads off and taking baths. Can see very well how much snow you have had now. Keep safe and warm.
Good morning ALICAT how is your OH and are you getting some sleep now.
Thanks Wendy, they're beautiful! Do you know them all by name? lol
You wouldn't want to sit on that seat would you? We had another couple of inches overnight.

ORIGINAL GOLDFINCH: Just newly back from Grantown my first venture down the A95..been up a few times towards Elgin...the road was a nightmare as hardly touched by gritters and when I got to Grantown I felt very sorry for the locals as the roads and pavements had hardly been touched either. I do hope your son has his thermals on as it was minus 12 at 12noon. Only minus 10 where I am bit the sun is out and the Buzzards are out for a soar I am sure they are just soaking up the rays.
MARGO: Filling feeders all the time, still waiting for my RSPB order. We have a rowan tree at the front of the cottage viewed from OH's study and I have various feeders there and it is perpetual motion as they work their way down the branches waiting their turn. Watching them is a bit like being hypnotised (maybe).
TERRYM: By the Spring I will be down to about 10 pheasants as I will have one male fighting off everything in sight and watching him strut his stuff around his boundary is like watching something out of the Jungle Book and he is called the Brigadier. The girls will have a dominent one who will sometimes knock the back door if I am late and she for some unknown reason is called Deidre.
It is novel actually seeing the garden chair!!
DIBNLIB: My main reason going that way down the A95 was to see if if would be worth venturing into Inverness to the gym as I really miss going. With the first part of the road being in such a state it won't be happening yet. BBC weather forcast is better for later in the week that is until they change their mind the next time I look.
