Ah. Lovely to meet you, Lynette & Dibnlib. [Pics on previous week's thread.]

Gorgeous pics of snow Wendy, Alicat & Osprey. But I bet you are not thinking "lovely"!!! My nearest to snow was some grey slushy roadside stuff in Tasmania 40 years ago.

Tiger I think I have Gary’s puzzle solved. Alas I can only award you 2½ out of 5 on the brain teasers. I was being diabolical this week. Until Friday then . . .

Linda Successful shrunk pics. The walker’s seat - what a wonderful way to remember someone.

Oh no, Auntie, minus temps already.

Alan Love your intermittent "busy pics", the shivery one, the dreaded leaf blower & the migration.

A bit shivery here today, expecting 20 C max again. I’m not complaining. A quiet day for me. Yesterday I helped Dau2 washing, wiping, cleaning, etc as per her list. G-kids did minimum possible. Brats. After lunch Dau & Sil went shopping while I guarded the fort. I think they were out longer than necessary but I don’t begrudge them that. The brats are really rude & unhelpful. GS greeted me with "what are you doing here?" Hello and nice to see you too! They spoke to their mother on Skype - what a lot of complaining & false info. Grumbling that Sil put passwords on computers. Well Miss14 did abuse the privilege. She is proud of doing badly in final exams. Alas these days kids don’t repeat a year at school. It seems it is more important to stay with peer group than to acquire knowledge. I just don’t understand them. Sorry. Rant over. I’ll go and read Linda’s answers again to put me in a better mood with some giggles.

  • Me again WendyB just seen that photo has been taken at Arne where Roy Dennis put up nests in the hope that ospreys will take advantage of them.  Would be great if they did as it is not far from me.  Pleased your tumble dryer is working again.  What would we do without them.  Also good that you have made it out for a real newspaper.

  • More lovely photos of the birds original goldfinchch.

  • Good afternoon SheilaFE very remiss of me but glad your Aunt is safely tucked up in hospital at the moment.  92 is a good age to still be independent with out some of the modern facilities we all enjoy.  I can well imagine it will be difficult for her to consider a change.

Interesting to read that she lives in Shirley as that was my neck of the woods originally before we moved down to Dorset.  We haven't been that way for many years but I remember the last time we went we didn't recognise Croydon as it has changed so much.

  • Good afternoon Alan good news about the Dunedin cam.

Does Hamish like the snow?  My sister's dog thinks he is in heaven at the moment and just loves rolling around in it.

  • Good afternoon Lynette love the animated snowman.  Certainly cheered me up.

  • ALICAT so sorry you are having a tough time at the moment.  Hope the pills for OH will help and you will both get some sleep.

It stopped snowing here yesterday about lunchtime but everything has turned to ice now.  Very treacherous underfoot and temperature still below freezing and not likely to get above today.  Look after yourself and hope OH will improve.

  • Morning All: Just newly back from an interesting expedition into the real world beyond our 2 miles of uncleared road. Took my recycling to local school and got stuck. Lots of ladies came to help me back on my way and nobody laughed at me..well not to my face anyway. Won't mention it to OH as I couldn't cope with "I would have told you not too" conversation.

Really warm today only minus 4 but that means it is warm enough to snow...which it is. It is that big fluffy snow which I call Christmas snow. Wind up on the main road and it was drifting across the road in places.

Managed to get my real paper newspaper and ther is an interesting article in it about birds if prey. It looks as the MSP's have given the green light to passThe Wildlife and Natural Enviroment (Scotland) Bill which will mean that a landowner will be prosecuted with up to 6 months in prison . Up to now it has been his workers who have been told to do the dirty deed that have been prosecuted. Fantastic piece of legislation and should come into being in the Spring. At long last Hurrah for common sense.

Margobird: I knew Arne was near you and do you ever get chance to go there? Daughter lives close by so we take her dog, my avatar, for walks there.

  • margo: Hamish is not too keen on the snow. I have just taken him for a walk and I noticed he slipped a couple of times on the ice. He is getting on a bit and prefers to roll on grass rather than snow. Just taking him on short walks until the weather gets better. Despite wall to wall sunshine and little wind the temp is still minus 1c at the moment.

  • WendyB you are brave, 2 miles on untreated roads, glad the community spirit kicked in and you got some help.  That is an interesting article and hopefully it will now be easier to prosecute the wicked amongst us who kill birds of prey.

Would you believe it we do live near Arne but have never been there.  It is one of those things where when you are local you never visit places you should.  Have to say though if ospreys do arrive there I will be one of the first to visit.
