Weekly Chat, Sunday 28 November 2010

Ah. Lovely to meet you, Lynette & Dibnlib. [Pics on previous week's thread.]

Gorgeous pics of snow Wendy, Alicat & Osprey. But I bet you are not thinking "lovely"!!! My nearest to snow was some grey slushy roadside stuff in Tasmania 40 years ago.

Tiger I think I have Gary’s puzzle solved. Alas I can only award you 2½ out of 5 on the brain teasers. I was being diabolical this week. Until Friday then . . .

Linda Successful shrunk pics. The walker’s seat - what a wonderful way to remember someone.

Oh no, Auntie, minus temps already.

Alan Love your intermittent "busy pics", the shivery one, the dreaded leaf blower & the migration.

A bit shivery here today, expecting 20 C max again. I’m not complaining. A quiet day for me. Yesterday I helped Dau2 washing, wiping, cleaning, etc as per her list. G-kids did minimum possible. Brats. After lunch Dau & Sil went shopping while I guarded the fort. I think they were out longer than necessary but I don’t begrudge them that. The brats are really rude & unhelpful. GS greeted me with "what are you doing here?" Hello and nice to see you too! They spoke to their mother on Skype - what a lot of complaining & false info. Grumbling that Sil put passwords on computers. Well Miss14 did abuse the privilege. She is proud of doing badly in final exams. Alas these days kids don’t repeat a year at school. It seems it is more important to stay with peer group than to acquire knowledge. I just don’t understand them. Sorry. Rant over. I’ll go and read Linda’s answers again to put me in a better mood with some giggles.

  • Linda Just seen  the pic of Sweetpea - he looks like a 'sweetiepie'!

  • LINDY    loved your poem, really made me smile.

Got an E Mail from bro in Oz, he is having a marvellous time of course.   Home on the 8th. boy is he in for a shock.

  • Morning all ... cold and more snow overnight .... BUT ... they are promising an improvement from tomorrow ... I won't hold my breath! I went out this morning for the first time since Friday ... just walked along the street to have a cuppa with my friend!! My 'dodgy' back means I find it hard walking on snow and ice, so I avoid it whenever possible :-)

Linda - lovely pics of Sweetpea ... glad you enjoyed your champagne last night .... still on cloud 9 I imagine! Love the poem about Billy Whizz.

OG - I feel so sorry for your poor son and his 'indoor ice' ... he doesn't need that on top of his other problems! I hope your daughter hasn't got problems too.

margobird - I'm glad Billy Whizz showed up for his food ... he obviously knows where he is well off foodwise!!

Thanks to everyone else for chat etc

    Take care and stay safe!

Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

  • Thanks for the congrats.   Mum & Baby doing well - Son hopes they may come home today - not like in my day, we were made to stay in hosp. for a week!

Glad the poetry made someone smile - I wrote it in the time it took from the previous post, so its not very good really!

  • Best wishes to all in the Lindy/Grannybird family - did you cork up the champagne again? (Don't think that works though...)

We now have about 2 inches of snow at home and an inch or so at work by the Solway.  Looking across at Criffel, there seems to be much less on the north of the Solway than south. Bright and sunny but not getting above zero.

  • Silly little flurries of snow from time to time, but mostly bright sunshine.  Birds very busy – have photos from yesterday – but will crop before posting to show them at their best – back ends of starlings get in everywhere!

So seldom hear from Dau#2 that I assumed she was telling her Dad some sort of weather-related problem last evening, but she was actually phoning to enquire how her aged parents were getting on!  When he transferred her to me, she did announce that they are getting two puppies next week, so I told her that was rather daft with both of them working – also they are a brother and sister from one litter, despite having experienced the problems we had with that while she was still living at home!  Nice names though – they are to be called Rowan (male) and Willow (female).

Wendy – hope your tumble-dryer works today - son was wondering whether his washing machine will freeze – it’s in a cubby under the stairs up to his flat.

Annette – even I hadn’t noticed you had me married to the wrong person – so lets hope nobody else had – especially Osprey, who is mother of four boys!

Lindy – get rid of the queasy bug before you get to see Sweetpea!  You are so good not to go rushing straight there, giving them time to be a family of three first.  Another lovely photo.

Brenda – sorry you have so much snow now.  Stay in if you can and keep warm.

Dibnlib – pleased Bro is having a good break – I hope he doesn’t find a any problems in his house Roof, pipes etc) when he gets back.

Joan – congats on your first outing.  I know how you feel about going out – I hang on to OH but still feel very vulnerable because I am not good on my feet.  Dau#2 has said that Son could go to her during Christmas and/or New Year if he can’t get here but can get there – she would also have him to live if he gets a job in Inverness.  He’d like that, to help walk puppies.

Terry – hello there – yes, we have an inch max in total over this side, although I guess there is more up Lockerbie way, not to mention Moffat!  Take care going home up the hill this evening!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hi all poping in to catch up while i can as OH is having one of his sycotic episodes, had some more snow over night and again on and off this morning,so don't know when i will get chance to be on again will catch up when i can,so stay warm and safe

  • Good morning (just) dibnlib pleased to see your bro is having such a good time in Oz, will certainly have done him some good.  He is going to have a shock when he arrives back in the uK as I think all this snow is going to take a long time to clear.  Hope you are keeping safe and warm.

  • Hello AQ we both think Billy Whizz might have been mistreated in the past.  OH can look at him and he doesn't run off but if he sees me he is off like a rocket so perhaps a female has been nasty to him.  At the moment I would like nothing more than he would accept us and he could gladly have a home where we could look after him.

  • Hello, I'm back on with a name announcement:    Baby Sweetpea is going to be called Tomasz Adam, after people in the family ( d. in laws family are Polish).  We are still waiting to hear if they can go home today ( in my day, you had to wait a week!) and when we can go visit with the flowers & balloon I bought this morning. Poor Mum & Dad were both whacked yesterday, having been up all night.
