Ah. Lovely to meet you, Lynette & Dibnlib. [Pics on previous week's thread.]

Gorgeous pics of snow Wendy, Alicat & Osprey. But I bet you are not thinking "lovely"!!! My nearest to snow was some grey slushy roadside stuff in Tasmania 40 years ago.

Tiger I think I have Gary’s puzzle solved. Alas I can only award you 2½ out of 5 on the brain teasers. I was being diabolical this week. Until Friday then . . .

Linda Successful shrunk pics. The walker’s seat - what a wonderful way to remember someone.

Oh no, Auntie, minus temps already.

Alan Love your intermittent "busy pics", the shivery one, the dreaded leaf blower & the migration.

A bit shivery here today, expecting 20 C max again. I’m not complaining. A quiet day for me. Yesterday I helped Dau2 washing, wiping, cleaning, etc as per her list. G-kids did minimum possible. Brats. After lunch Dau & Sil went shopping while I guarded the fort. I think they were out longer than necessary but I don’t begrudge them that. The brats are really rude & unhelpful. GS greeted me with "what are you doing here?" Hello and nice to see you too! They spoke to their mother on Skype - what a lot of complaining & false info. Grumbling that Sil put passwords on computers. Well Miss14 did abuse the privilege. She is proud of doing badly in final exams. Alas these days kids don’t repeat a year at school. It seems it is more important to stay with peer group than to acquire knowledge. I just don’t understand them. Sorry. Rant over. I’ll go and read Linda’s answers again to put me in a better mood with some giggles.

  • That's so lovely!   Thanks so much, Diane.     Must go do some housework now, nothing seems to be getting done today!

  • Good afternoon all and especially Lindybird and OH.  Congratulations on the birth of a beautiful little grandson.  Best wishes also to the proud parents.  Sweet Pea must have decided he would rather arrive naturally bless him.  Glad Mum is OK and son must be over the moon.  Love the cards that have been posted for you we have some very talented bloggers here.  I will raise a glass to you and the proud parents later today but hope you get a chance to have a glass of that bubbly you have.  What a day for you, one that will never be forgotten.

I did log in earlier but had to do some housewrork and then get read to go and have lunch with a friend at my favourite Italian Restaurant.  Very nice meal as ususal but have to say it is so cold out there today.  Biting wind which just about cuts you in half.  Would you believe I have come back in and put my dressing gown on over my clothes I am that cold.  Hard work keeping the birds satisfied today.  Huge tray of food first thing which has now been refilled there times.  Also had to keep refilling bird baths as sparrows and starlings first in bath before 10 and have been in several times since.  I just heard that birds need to eat at least half their body weight while it is so cold, so I am sure they are getting enough from me at the moment.  Watching them bathing makes me feel colder than ever but I suppose they have to keep their feathers in good order to help them retain heat.

Didn't see Billy Whizz before I went out but he arrived not long after I came back from lunch and is still having a good feed and a large bowl of milk.  I know he came in the night as all the food had gone and even though the milk had frozen he had licked it enough to make a hole in the ice and had drunk what was underneath. When he came yesterday afternoon after he had nis food and milk, he sat outside my conservatory observing me for a few minutes before he took at great speed again.  I will do all I can for him and he would be welcome to come in and be a pet but somehow I can't see that will happen.

Thanks for the snow pictures and sorry can't reply individually.  For all of you have that have so much snow do take care and most of all keep warm.  Don't have to go out tomorrow thank heavens, this cold is really starting to get to me.

Brenda H  couldn't agree more with your comments.  This is a really special day for Grannybird and OH.  No wonder she is feeling tearful, but tears of happiness and joy on the birth of a very special little boy.

  • Congratulations LINDA (Grannybird) on the birth of your grandson please pass on my best wishes to the parents and OH.  When will you be paying a visit to see him in person?

Had to make an expedition out today to get provisions but had to clear about 9 inches of snow from front of garage to get the car out but after that the main roads were passable.  Sainsbury didn't have any bread and there was no daily papers either as the Forth Bridge was closed and delivery lorries couldn't get into Fife. Bridge opened this afternoon at about 3pm but only to cars seemingly they can't use normal salt and grit on the bridge as they are corrosive to the metal.

Talked to son who is in the Inverness office today and his train was delayed 45min this morning and he is hoping he will manage to get home tonight. Hhe was supposed to go Grantown yesterday but the road was closed over Dava.

Keeping bird feeders topped up but I am getting visits from gulls and crows who have great big appetites. Hope everyone keeps warm  as snow has just started to fall again here.
