Ah. Lovely to meet you, Lynette & Dibnlib. [Pics on previous week's thread.]
Gorgeous pics of snow Wendy, Alicat & Osprey. But I bet you are not thinking "lovely"!!! My nearest to snow was some grey slushy roadside stuff in Tasmania 40 years ago.
Tiger I think I have Gary’s puzzle solved. Alas I can only award you 2½ out of 5 on the brain teasers. I was being diabolical this week. Until Friday then . . .
Linda Successful shrunk pics. The walker’s seat - what a wonderful way to remember someone.
Oh no, Auntie, minus temps already.
Alan Love your intermittent "busy pics", the shivery one, the dreaded leaf blower & the migration.
A bit shivery here today, expecting 20 C max again. I’m not complaining. A quiet day for me. Yesterday I helped Dau2 washing, wiping, cleaning, etc as per her list. G-kids did minimum possible. Brats. After lunch Dau & Sil went shopping while I guarded the fort. I think they were out longer than necessary but I don’t begrudge them that. The brats are really rude & unhelpful. GS greeted me with "what are you doing here?" Hello and nice to see you too! They spoke to their mother on Skype - what a lot of complaining & false info. Grumbling that Sil put passwords on computers. Well Miss14 did abuse the privilege. She is proud of doing badly in final exams. Alas these days kids don’t repeat a year at school. It seems it is more important to stay with peer group than to acquire knowledge. I just don’t understand them. Sorry. Rant over. I’ll go and read Linda’s answers again to put me in a better mood with some giggles.
Good afternoon BrendaJ and I am back home with hair do intact. Still snowing on and off and I am absolotely frozen. Came home with several bags of bird food and that was my first job before I made a coffee with a drop of whisky in it to warm me up. Filled up the bird feeders and will put a bit more out when they have gone to roost so they have something in the morning. OH drove back from Exerter this morning and had not problems but was relieved when he phoned to say he was in work. He is going shopping tonight so I am hoping it doesn't freeze up before he goes out.

Hi Margo, Glad to hear you got there and back from the haidressers ok. It started snowing here during the night and has been snowing heavily all day. About 4 inches now. We have had plenty of bird visitors today and the feeders are going down rapidly. OH has just gone to refill them and scatter some meal worms for the blackbirds etc. but he has got to clear some snow first.
Hi Brenda although it has been snowing on and off most of the day so far it has not as yet settled. Dread to think what it is going to be like if it all freezes over later. Roads and pavements will be like skating rinks. I have forgotten but are you in Sussex? They did forecast some heavy snow for the South East.
It is a full time occupation at the moment to keep the poor garden birds well fed. So far I have topped everything up 4 times. Will go and empty the bird baths soon and then refill in the morning. Saves all the effort trying to get rid of the solid ice in the morning.
Hoping my litte Billy Whizz is OK as I haven't seen him today. Food and milk has not been touched.
Keep warm and safe.
Hello everybody: Hope you are all keeping safe and well...still very white up here and I have got a bit of cabin fever depression coming over me today.
No photos as we have no sun to make the snow seem a bit more cheerful.
Highlight has been Mrs Pheasant knocking at the back door to remind me to feed her.
Top tip RSPB shop flier came through the door 15% off and free delivery over £70. The discount was a bonus and the free delivery was easy to come by...all profits go to RSPB. So all my birds will be lined up when new delivery arrives.
Tomorrow is going to be more positive.....Elgin here I come!!!
Yes, E. Sussex, Margo. In a village not too far from the Kent borders but only 10 miles from the coast. I should think Billy Whizz has found somewhere to shelter. Cats don't like getting wet. Possibly waiting for your OH to park his car for some shelter.
Hi everyone: Got e-mail from sister in Lincolnshire who's despondent over early arrival of snow - I guess since last winter was so mild, she was hoping for a repeat this year. Mourning doves have now found the new feeder location and happy to see them scarfing up the goodies.
A bit late, but HAPPY ST. ANDREW'S DAY to those north of the border (thanks BrendaH).
Margobird: Assume OH will be back in town for tonight so you can catch up on sleep. Glad you managed to get to the hairdresser. Hope Billy Whizz is merely late and has shown up by now.
Lindybird: How long will they wait before they decide to induce labor? Missed OG's invite for bakewell slices! :-) Didn't realize that guy was cutting the hedge in that photo; thought they were lifting him over it to get equipment into a garden.
Auntie: Stay warm and thanks for photo.
Alan: Richard has gone to Trinidad? Can we blame him. Geez. Any chance Rothes will head back your way come March? If so, we'll be able to track him, right?
OG: Oh dear, not only do you use Access but you also have a Christmas card list - and I thought I was organized.
BrendaH: Ha yes - remember that we were far less worried about germs in those days.
dibnlib: And yes - frost patterns inside the windows! Brrrrr. We had coal fireplaces in each of the rooms of our house but only in the bedrooms if we were sick. We'd get dressed for school in front of the fire or the oven.
Djoan: I remember those little milk bottles - the nuns used to put them right on the pipes and I loved the warm milk. Still make myself some at night sometimes when temps plummet into the 50s. :-)
Off to start the day; take care all.
Back in from appointments – even said No to visiting the Coffee Lounge because I wanted to be back in my own cosy nest! Went to hairdresser then chiropodist, so I’m trimmed at both ends, just everything between that’s the problem!
Replies later – need to sort dinner.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
SHEILA sorry to hear about aunt. hope the call from hosp comes soon and that it is good news. Mum has people popping in during the day, which is a huge relief. Phoned neighbours about suspect phone call and they thought it was probably a check from care-line to see how Mum was in this wintery weather.
Went to house of Beauly this am. Had lunch (cream of onion, cider and stilton soup with cheese scone) definitely 12/10. also bought some food, xmas gifts and a painting we both fell in love with. It is an autumnal scene with a rushing burn running through it. Must stop buying art as we will soon run out of space. The scenery on the way was breath-taking. Views of a snowy sunlit Ben over the Moray Firth. On the way back we saw 2 amazing sculptures of giant snowman and his dog, such a pity we did not have camera. OH working this evening and a friend is coming round to keep me company for a couple of hours.
MARGO good to hear that both you and OH are home safe and sound and also hope Billy the Whizz is ok. Relly hoping that one day you will be able to tell us that he has let you get close.
