Morning/evening all: Off to catch up on today's posts.
Meant to say, did you see the Thunderbirds mentioned last night on The One Show???
Annette: So tempted to do a hi-jack job but seeing the guys from the distillery gritting from a wheelbarrow this year I might hold fire. Their little tractor with a grit spreader was condemned this summer, they now have a sparkly new tractor with bigger thingy on the front but..ha ha.. no spreader. Watching this afternoon was better than anything on the tele. What a sad life I lead.
Alan: What a super fella.. I am not allowed to have dog so take other peoples out for a walk...so if Hamish needs a break up here in the Highlands...
Hello everyone, what a lot of pages! First time on here this week and I don’t think I will be able to catch up with everything you have been doing as I am away at an orchestral weekend from tomorrow and I’ve been out every night this week. Just the usual, orchestra, other orchestra, choir, plus we are in the middle of the first 5-week session in a series learning to play bridge. I used to play when I was at school but no conventions or signals so we thought we’d try it, see how we go. So if anyone’s asked me a question, I’ve missed it!
I see I’ve missed TruckDude travelling across Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska and now in Wyoming, I shall have to look out for his videos. Also, Phoebe doesn’t seem to be settling down to laying more eggs : ((
Did anyone put up the link for the APOD on 24th? Fantastic timelapse video of the aurora.
Got to do the dinner, might pop in later (before Foyle’s War on ITV3).

Hi all, just catching up again. Quite a few pages from yesterday.
Tiger - yes I think it was 1982 that my St.GD was born but can't really remember about the eclipes. I just know I was waiting for my daughter to go in for open heart surgery which was in the June and then we moved to where we are now in the July.
DJoan - like your wintry picture. We are so lucky down here as only heavy frosts and feeling cold but no snow as yet. It all looks picture postcardy but of course for those on the roads it isn't.
Drive safely up in the North and hope you don't get into any trouble, like being held up in the snow??
Alicat - much better pic of you sober and lovely to meet you via our weekly chat pages.
So many of you have posted your news that there are too many to answer to individually but I love hearing from you and seeing what you all have got up to.
Was watching a programme on Discovery Wild Life on Saving Grace about an orphaned otter who was being reared and hoping to be released back into the wild at a later date. Fascinating how they coped with the situation. It was Phillipa ? and her husband Charlie down in Devon. They did a River Diary not long back.

Just had a dump of about 12" of snow in the last half hour knocked out sky so OH has been out clearing a path to my shed and the drive to the road,,,just been out and it seems so warm. Distillery new tractor has come in to its own so much better than the old one as the technicle thing on the front is so much bigger. Talking to Davy the driver it has air con....so handy.
Linda - I can hardly type for laughing at your answers. I deserve them as I was being particularly wicked this week. To help out, I will admit there is an Aussie theme. Good luck Chloe & Tiger.
Joan - Lovely winter pic. Alicat - Great to see you. Annette - cf road repairs. 3 country SA towns had their fire stations demolished. A squabble between various parties means the replacements won’t be built in time for this year’s fire season, which has already started. Hello everyone I haven't time to comment.
Yesterday max 30 C. Today’s forecast 21 C with few morning showers. Fact: it has been raining steadily since 3 am (now nearly 9 am). Now I must away to help Dau2 with teens. Have a great weekend all
Just heard from daughters friend who is working tonight in Swanage, Dorset and it is snowing there...
Hi Lynette and aquilareen thanks for the coments about meeting me through pictures in the chat, its just been snowing again here

Well, ‘twasn’t white lining or even yellow lining (I thought the men’s overalls looked a bit black for that) it was a strange surface (maybe a polymer?) laid before the roundabout from each direction, presumably in order to produce some kind of rumble effect! Main contractors men also came to fix some more signs on their poles, got their tower out, put it away again and disappeared - must have had wrong signs, or couldn’t work with other team on site!
We’ve had a really lazy day, but I did draft our Christmas letter: I know some people hate them, but we exchange them with some of our once-a-year acquaintances and distant cousins etc. Looked at it together tonight and added some through-the-year photos – takes ages to print with all the pics.
Dibnlib – I chose to have ceramic cooker with conventional controls, as I can’t always feel when I have tried to use the others with my silly hands. Our first Ch card arrived at beginning of November because sender (missionary connection) was going to NY and then on a tour Latin America.
Alan – ooh! The lovely Hamish! Thanks so much for posting. Did he take his blanket out with him?
Wendy – hadn’t realised you were going to Elgin with OH. It’s amazing how much better the weather can be - just that much nearer the coast I suppose. Sounds like new Distillery Tractor will be a great help to you. News of snow in Dorset cold mean Margo will arrive home to snow in the early hours!
Lindy – great answers to AQ’s quiz – an expectant grandmother has to find something to do!
Terry – enjoy your music-making weekend!
Lynette – was it Phillipa Forester?
Thanks all for posts - sorry no more replies - bed calls!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Yes, OG, it was Phillipa Forester, I couldn't remember her second name at first.
Just caught these two deer at the LOL feeding station in the snow!!!
