Morning/evening all: Off to catch up on today's posts.

  • Crikey Diane!   you are trying to write War & Peace or something!  - its almost impossible to reply to everyone individually!

Lindy's Film Review -   "Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, pt. 1."

All of us in the cinema enjoyed this ( 8 or 9 of us 'oldies' and a set of about 5 young students who arrived in the nick of time for the beginning of the showing.)   It's pretty obvious to say, you have to be a fan really, of  the books, and to have read them all to keep up with all the convolutions of the plot.  As we were warned, its quite a bit darker than the previous episodes, as was the book, so not really suitable for the very young - it had I think a 12 rating.  Some of the scenes were quite scary, though most of the violence is off screen, just implied.  This story is of course set mostly outside the Hogwart's arena and as the young heroes travel to avoid their enemies, they are filmed in various beautiful and lonely places.  So some lovely photography of these, and some really exceptional performances from the 3 young heroes as they portray what it is like to be growing up and realising all the adult decisions they will have to make for themselves, now.  All of the acting was high standard,  even from those only on screen briefly, making us feel as we left the cinema that we were now definitely looking forward very much to the next and final episode.

  • Margobird Congrats on getting LG in June.  Don't know if we'll be in Nethy Bridge at that time - hope so!

  • Linda, glad you enjoyed the film, I can't wait to go. We are waiting for MIL to arrive for xmas and going together. Looking forward to it. Still no news then? any twinges?

Eagle Eye, many thanks for the response. Very interesting and you've made it much clearer for me. I still can't get my head around the fact the carriers we have now will only be able to launch helicopters.Still, greater minds than mine have been looking at this I'm sure.....

Diane, hope your dad is improving. Shame the President didn't swing by! Of course, I will also swing by and plough your driveway. May take me a while to get there.... lol Love the chicks, thanks. Hope you don't get flooded! I'm looking to get a new printer, what did you go for?

Margobird, so pleased for you, being accepted as a volunteer:) Someone on the FB side did it last year and had a wonderful time. I think a few others have applied as well. I'm sure you will have a great time.

Wendy, lovely pictures of the snow, thanks very much

Annette, that sounds chilly for your area. Hope you wrap up warm.

Brenda, thanks for the wishes. Stay warm

George, thanks for the info and love the cat picture. Looks so settled.

  • Hi,  I try to keep up with news but don't always manage it...

I must pop in to say congrats to Margobird  for getting to volunteer at LG ! sure you will love it!
I think TerryM was going to volunteer at Bassenthwaite ?

Thanks a lot to Tiger for the super vid of Aurora borealis I will be looking at that one a few times.

Waiting to hear when Sweetpea arrives.....

I see some people have a lot of snow, It is very cold here and a few small flakes are drifting down but not sticking - yet! A bit is nice but not as much as last year.

Done quite a bit of present shopping on line, it is so convenient.

Lindybird, Thanks for the review,  looking forward to seeing HP new film, as I've read all the books and seen and enjoyed the previous films.

  • Nice to hear from you again, ChrisyB.  Hope I'm not being presumptous in putting a review on!  just a bit of fun, really!  hope you enjoy it, too. (the film, that is)

EDIT  Just rang d. in law & told her to run up and down the stairs a few times!! - can't really moan about waiting, as my firstborn was a week overdue.

  • Gary: This picture is for you. This is my daughters pony and he has been in our family since he was 4 months old. He competes at 1 day events even now and he is 16. Has the heart of a stallion of around 16 2 but he is a pony and a gelding.

His name and I think you might like this is "Willoway Washington Star" Washy for short. His name well he was born on the 4th of July. Not my name choice I wanted Bruce without the Springsteen.

  • Oh!  how handsome he is, Wendy!  - great name, too.

  • Hi ChrisyB, hope the snow stays off

Wendy, thanks so much for the lovely photo. Love the face, full of concentration. Looks a bit like Clover. My OH does eventing as well. Love to watch but those xcountry jumps are big and don't move! Love the name. Those pony's have the heart of much bigger horses. Often they are much braver as well:)

  • Wendy, this was taken a couple of years ago. it's only a photo of a photo but ...

  • Gary: So true very brave and never give up. He used to go hunting and was always at the front. Vicky was convinced he could see red and liked music!!!
