Morning/evening all: Off to catch up on today's posts.
Good morning Lynette perhaps we should start a "fluffy socks" club. I hate having cold feet when I go to bed as it keeps me awake. Not worried about how I may look it is just a case of keeping warm at all costs. On nights when I have difficulty sleeping I get up and wander around, watch a bit of TV or put the computer on. OH sleeps like a log and I really envy him, doesn't even know I have been up for a couple of hours. Fortunately this does not happen too often. I really need at least 7 hours sleep whereas OH gets by on 5-6 hours.

Good morning Alan and a very novel way of watching an osprey fishing. How lucky to be in such close proxmity to an osprey.
Good morning to all I have not mentioned. I thought when I logged in that Sweet Pea had arrived as there were so many posts. For all those with snow please take care. We have no snow in Poole but had a very hard frost this morning and like Alan has said defrosted the bird baths but they keep freezing up again. Needless to say all the birds are busy feeding themselves. Doesn't take them long to clear a tray of food at the moment.
Just had a look down our drive to see Billy Whizz sunning himself but he just won't let me get near him. He is getting plenty to eat and drink at least. I wonder where he goes at night as apart from a couple of visits for food and milk I don't usually see him until about this time each day.
I can't tell you how excited I am this morning. I have been accepted for volunteering at LG from June 11 to June 18 next year. How wonderful is that, I am on a real high after the initial tears at being successful. Rang OH to tell him and he is delighted as well. Can't believe I am going. It has been on mind for the last week especially and when I saw the envelope with my writing on I knew if was from the RSPB but until I opened it didn't know I had been accepted. I can't stop smiling and I am looking forward to seeing ospreys in the flesh. Only 7 months to go and I am sure it will pass quickly. My sister says she is a bit worried about me travelling all that way on my own and also getting on and off trains with luggage. I am sure I can manage and OH is going to take me up to Euston and make sure I am on the right train bless him.
Hope you all have a good day and take care in the weather conditions that I know many of you have.
margobird - brilliant news about your volunteering at LG ... Yipeeee!!

I am still smiling DjoanS and probably will be for days to come. My dreams are about to come true.
Good morning ALICAT no snow yet for us but very, very cold and frosty got frozen sorting out the birds this morning. It has made my day to be accepted at LG, roll on next June.
The parakeet is back, tucking into the peanuts, this time. I have not seen it for a few days....now perched on a branch above, having been disturbed by a grey squirrel.....oh no, now trying the sunflower hearts feeder, new multi port one, buzzed by a pidgeon.....back to the peanuts, asking to squirrel, to shift, only inches away....squirrel wont budge...so back to the sunflower hearts....still not happy, sitting up in a tree, by the road, at the foot of the garden.
Keeps coming back, so it must be hungry, been here for about ten minutes now.
All quiet again, as a cat has arrived on the scene.

Morning all. Havent yet mastered what you are all up to, but love knowing there are lots of whisky drinkers around!! Had a Glenmorangie last night. Ahh.
Lots more snow here today, infact still snowing, 5+inches. Been out with tiny D(arling) S(on)4, yes I've got 4 boys!! (12,9,5yrs + 18mths) in the snow, he could hardly walk it was so deep!! Sorted out DS3's rabbits + guinea pigs + filled the bird feeders for the 1st time in ages. Due to large brown rodents + a white feline!! GRRRRR. But its taken them less than 10mins to find them again!!
Got the gas bottle yesterday, so no feer of not being able to cook if the power goes down, hooray!! Next project is to get a flue installed, have a stove, need to think of a hearth as well.
After that there is Xmas. In a mad moment I decided that inviting lots of folk would be good - so waiting to hear how many there might be coming - just us = 6, + my parents = 8 + my brother + family = 13 + a friend + her 2 girls = 16!! Oh well could be fun!!
Hope you are all keeping toasty warm.
