Grrrrr, just did a long post , then hit the wrong button and off it went:( Main thing today was getting 3 new tires for the car and a new air pressure sensor for one of the wheels. So, an expensive day!
Annette, glad you had a chuckle. Made me smile what the TSA people would make of a pudding! LOL on the underpants reference as well! (sorry all those outside the US, inside joke here)
Wendy, hope it's not too snowy when you wake up. Can't add to the whiskey conversation as (and I whisper this) I don't like it.
Lynnette, sounds like you've a lot of signing coming up. What a nice thing to do, signing at that Center.
Happy Thanksgiving to Annette, Diane and family's and all other readers of this in the US.
Gary: Double Grrrr. Just lost my post too - was busy looking for overnight temp forecast but didn't click off the Replying to Weekly Chat page, so suddenly found my pearls of wisdom disappeared into the ether... Have a good Thanksgiving (Diane too and anyone else on this side of the pond.)
OG: Christmas pud as a substitute for yogurt!! How on earth did you rationalize that? :-)
Lindybird: Traditional carol concert for such a special audience sounds lovely - it'll be wonderful. I often end up in our spare bedroom since I tend to toss and turn just as OH is in REM sleep, and vice versa. I like to read for about 20 minutes when I wake up around 3 a.m., which OH doesn't appreciate (can't imagine why). Anyway, I just bought myself a wonderful bed jacket; yes, I know, it sounds so old-fashioned, but it's made of the same soft, toasty material as those socks and covers the exposed bits (shoulders!)
Take care all;
I have never made a real Xmas pud. When I inherited the Xmas gathering (sis-i-l & I take alternate years), I was given a very rich recipe by m-i-l. She got from who-knows-where as it is called "Stella’s Pud". It is prepared the day before, left to hubble & bubble overnight, and steamed for hours Xmas morn. Half the gathering eat it, the others go for the Choc Cream Pie which it vital to our family gatherings. LOL Success this morn. I now have The Turkey safely in my wee 2-drawer freezer. I took esky with ice packs so it wouldn’t start defrosting before I got home. I can’t imagine a Xmas in cold weather. Fluffy socks - I buy so-called Explorer socks to wear around the house & to bed. But not at this time of year!!!!! Lynette - I spend more time wandering the house than sleeping at night. My train of thought just interrupted by a phone call to tell me that 2 days ago my computer was infected by a virus, blah, blah. We have been getting these calls lately. This time I managed to shut her up by saying that I was so pleased with the news, I loved having infections and then I hung up. Judging by her accent, the call was coming from a nearby continent. Shh, me too Gary, I prefer a nice dry white. A message in our letterbox today that within 3 weeks (oh yeah?), they will be replacing our gutters & kerbing. That explains the mysterious yellow markings that appeared months ago. It is not many years since they replaced g & k, however they managed to get the levels wrong and in one heavy downpour, half the roadway was under water. Ahem, the problem is they don’t keep rubbish, leaves, etc out of the system and that causes the blockages. But what would I know. Currently a pleasant 21 C, blue sky, fluffy clouds. Does that make you feel warmer?
I'm posting these bald eagle chicks to say Happy Thanksgiving to Annette, Gary, Barbara Jean, Caerann, and anyone else on this side of the pond!!! Big hello to OG (loved your photos!), Lindy (loved your poem!), Joan, Auntie, Brenda, Margo, Alan, Paul, dibnlib, Chloe, Tiger, Patriciat, alicat, jsb, Lynette, Sheila, Liz, Wendy, Osprey, and anyone else on the other side of the pond. Oh, and big hi to AQ, who isn't anywhere near the pond. :-)
Good Morning all...Yes woken up to more snow and the distillery snow plough (pronounced ploow around here) has been out for the first time. They have a new tractor and it didn't come out at all yesterday. They probably had a crash course on how to use it as once again they were caught on the back foot..that happens every year. Will now have to dig out the pile of snow left at the end of the drive...that happens evey year.
Clear skies and a nice moon,,will go for a trudge in the snow later and maybe venture out for some milk and a paper. Reading a newspaper on line is just not the same.
PS Moon just gone and it is snowing AGAIN
Morning, All. Crispy frost here again, and a v e r y cold wind, so you need to be well wrapped up to go out. Sounds really snowy where you are, Wendy. We don't get snow here usually in mild Cheshire unless its really bad everywhere else in UK - but we had a lot last year during that cold snap.
No baby news yet - though I woke this morning, thinking "this is it! today's the day!" but perhaps that's just wishful thinking! Am busy looking at toy catalogues, choosing its Christmas present(s) as although It'll only be a month old, it will be nearly another year till next Christmas, won't it!
THANKS TO DIANE for the lovely Thanksgiving Wishes. What a great pic of some ugly babies! Happy Thanksgiving to All of you.
Morning all - snow lying here, but a bit 'soggy' .... cold, but not freezing! More heavy snow forecast around lunchtime and again overnight. I hate it :-(
Diane - thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes ... and HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all who are celebrating!
OG - glad you enjoyed your 'spare' Christmas pudding .... great substitute for yogurt and fruit :-)
Lynette - your carol concert sounds wonderful.
I can't join in the whisky/whiskey taste debate as I don't like the stuff. I did visit one distillery in Scotland ... Edradour... I believe it was the smallest distillery at the time ... maybe it still is. OH likes whiskey ... the Irish kind, and we have visited several Irish distilleries. I find the process fascinating ... just don't like the taste!
Thanks to all for chat.
Take care.
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Here is something to warm everyone up (except AQ!) - the long ago promised pic of me in The Hat and New Sunglasses - I look very red because it was very very hot that morning, & my mouth is open because I'm saying "take it, quick, so I can get back in the shade!" - didn't realise, either, that I was sporting the latest 'off the shoulder look', as I was so warm!
It has just started snowing again at LG, the feeders are very busy this morning. Woodpecker has just checked in.
