Morning/evening all: Off to catch up on today's posts.

  • Morning all. Thanks to those who have pposted photos.  Alicat and OG, your birds are wonderful and the autumn colour is magnificent, OG.  JSB the flamingo picture is amazing.  Don't suppose they knew they were making a pattern!

Thanks to all who congratulated Tweed and me - all down to the dog!  My trainer said yesterday that Tweed must be psychic because he wouldn't have known where to go from my signals!

Have had a small flock of starlings in the garden this morning.  First time in ages.  No return of red squirrel tthough (unless he has snuck in when I'm not around!)

Like everyone else on here, I'm waiting eagerly for word of the arrival of baby Sweetpea - not prepared to put  any bets on, though.

  • What fun!  Don't mind who joins in with predictions for my grandchild!  I'm so excited, myself!

Loved the pic of the flamingoes, jsb.  an amazing occurrence.

Thanks to Chloe for the fun countdown clock re the updating of this site - not before time!

Thanks to Sheila FE for the heads up on the book for 'Lady of the Loch' - shall want that one.

Husband has disconnected the old stove this morning, ready for delivery of new this afternoon.  I have various things ready which can be microwaved in case of non delivery or a problem in connection of the new one - you never know!  Will have to get on with boring houseworky things now to distract myself from worrying about Baby's arrival!  Started wrapping Christmas presents last night, not something I usually do before December, but determined to be in front of myself this year!

Will be glancing out of the window, as yesterday we spilt some birdseed on the paving whilst refilling the feeders, & I said leave it for the birds to clear up - Husband looked out at lunchtime, when I was out, and  saw a Jay pecking at it.  Also have now reinstated our niger seed feeder & the Goldfinches are returning (we havn't seen them for ages)

  • Morning all,

Thanks for the flamingo picture JSB. Amazing capture.

Alicat and OG: Thanks for the swan pics. Magnificent birds.

Paul: Always interesting to here about sheds. Must be a 'man' thing. We only have one shed which is the territory of Hamish the thunderdog.

Patriciat : Hamish is in awe of Tweeds continued achievements. When asked his opinion he replied "woof!!woof!!"

This morning we were up early as Lady P is off on a Christmas shopping mission to Nottingham with her neice and some other ladies. I decided to go on a haircut mission and drove the 14 miles to my Scottish barber in Oundle. The weather is pleasant this morning and the sun is streaming through the window into my study.

I was wondering where the government were getting the 7bn to give to Ireland but apparently they are borrowing it. I thought they were trying to reduce the deficit?

  • 'Morning, Patricia.  I know Tweed is very enthusiastic in Agility Comps, but surely his skill on the day is down to your pre-comp training!!

    Here is Tufted Duck:

Got lots of pics of his tail with no head as he kept diving just as I was about to click, but managed to predict where he would surface this time, with water dripping off his head:

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Lindy - I hope the stove delivery will be soon, and the re-connection will go smoothly.  Is it gas?

Have some Swans to add to your Jay and Goldfinches (pleased that they have returned):

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good Morning All.

Tiger, I see that Easter Monday next year will be on the 25th April and so the 28th ( royal wedding prediction) will therefore fall on the Thursday, I don't see the banks or industry being too happy about two public holidays in the one week.

Annette, What a worry and a shock for your friend, especially, as you say, she had very little inkling of the true situation. Very true, we don't know what the future has in store for us. We can only ' be there' for whenever our children need us. When I saw the RSPB statement about the new server / host, I also thought about how many teething problems there could be. Hopefully, they will all be resolved before the osprey season starts and the number of posters greatly increases.

    jsb, Great flamingo picture.

Diane, I really do hope your Dad's health improves. Sounds as if he is going through a rather bad time, which must mean a very difficult time for you also. Love to you both.

Sheila, Sounds as if you are enjoying your new car. I should think your mileage is now steadily rising.

Patriciat, Keep looking for your red squirrel and then maybe you can show us a photograph of it.

Linda, Good news that you were able find a new home for your cooker and I presume you are standing, admiring your new one now.

I will predict that Sweetpea will arrive overnight, tonight !!!

  • Brenda H    Yes we have a very late Easter Sunday in 2011 almost as late as it can ever be. However if you hold on until 2038 Easter will fall on 25th April. I fear that there is no point in waiting the next earliest date of Easter Sunday which will be on 22nd March 2285.

OG  Love the picture of the swans.

    and for one post only

  • Linda, I didn't even get your new cooker delivery time right, so no hope for my Sweetpea prediction !!! I haven't wrapped any Christmas presents yet, because I haven't bought any yet. I have written all my cards though.

OG, More lovely photographs. Love the tufted duck.

  • Lovely wet looking Tufted Duck from OG!  - and great flying swan motif from Tiger!

Hope everyone is getting a bit of the lovely sunshine we have here today - its really bright, but the ground is so damp, its cold in the garden.

Special thoughts go to Diane as hear that your Dad is still unwell, Diane - do take care of yourself, too. (by the way, thanks for that note some weeks ago that Caerann is still OK - nice to hear that all is well with her, and she is busy, as we suspected)

  • Oh!  I'm waiting to be Grandma-
    I'm trying not to fuss
The babe will come in its good time
And may resemble one of us!

I'm waiting to be Grandma -
    It makes me rather tense
    I don't mind your predictions-
But I'm sitting on the fence!

We don't know whether girl or boy
    It really doesn't matter
One day I'll sit it on my knee
    And enjoy all its chatter.

I'll teach it to look out in life
    As well as feel within
To observe joys of nature, &
    Love the world its in.

I'll tell the tales of Ospreys
    Some lessons there for life-
Even in the wild there are
    Events of toil and strife.

But most of all, my messages
Will be of care and love:
Of how this little one will be
    Part of us all, beloved.
