Morning/evening all: Off to catch up on today's posts.

  • Morning Everyone.   Dry here, so sorry to hear you still have the rain, Joan.

I'm a little late as some bright spark decided to have fireworks nearby to us at Midnight last night - it was only for about 10 minutes but they must have woken up a fair number of people & of course all the poor cats & dogs etc.  It took me another hour to get off to sleep again, so I'm a bit dopey this morning.  Hey ho, lots to do, so here is your Monday Smile:  brief today, just a quote which made me laugh out loud,

"Eternity's a terrible thought, I mean, where's it going to end??"    -   Sir Tom Stoppard,   Playwright & Screenwriter.

ps. no sign of Sweetpea yet, I feel its not going to be today......

  • Good Morning All. I was able to get on here easily this morning at 9.15am. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

No news from Linda yet. Does that mean she is a grandmother now ? Edit , just seen your comment Linda, no news yet. Sorry you had a bad night.

AQ, It sounds as if you enjoyed your weekend with your grandchildren. I really did not think that the wild tiger numbers had become so low. That is very worrying.

Oh dear, I had another window open so that I could read and reply and that has now stopped working. Hope I can post this later and continue with my reading.

  • Only took me 30 mins to be able to post !! I hope all this has got something to do with the updates and improvements on the site that they keep promising us.

  • Hi folks Didn't try to get on here yesterday as I was catching up after spending all of Saturday at our Winter League.  Couldn't get on at all earlier - tried through the RSPB Community site but was told it didn't exist either.

Linda Hope Sweetpea puts in an appearance soon (bet his/her Mum does too!).  You must be so excited now.

Tweed did very well at his competition on Saturday - brought home 3 rosettes!  He was 3rd in his height category (Large) and 3rd overall in one class, 12th overall in the other.

Forecast for this week is fine until about Wednesday, then the possibility of wintry showers.  Oh dear!

Have  agood Monday and a good week, everyone.

  • Morning all,

Tried several times yesterday to get on but no joy with AOL browser. Did manage to get on at one point with IE but when I went back to AOL it did not work. Gave up in the end.

Thanks for all the posts from those of you who managed to get on. Weather is dull and cold at the moment and expected to get even colder later in the week. Temp 5c. Had a quiet sunday watching footy and walking the thunderdog. All our garden birds seem to have disappeared again perhaps they will return with the cold weather.

    Have a good monday everyone.

  • There is a statement from Graham Bird, (RSPB Mod. )

'Unfortunately the Community software on one of our two servers is just returning a blank page - there is clearly a problem with  it although we are  not 100% sure what's going on just yet. The upshot of this is that 50% of the time you will be unable to access the community site.

Our IT team are investigating the problem right now. I will post again when I know more. '

  • LYNETTE  site did not exist for me yesterday and forget what I tried to post. Agree with you about Ann. She gets worse, not better and can't believe she was voted to stay in. Might it actually sound the end of this otherwise enjoyable programme, do hope not but think if I were a judge I would not want to be part of this farce any more. Mind you I suppose they are paid mega bucks - not that money would influence them!!!!!!

  • remember having a bright yellow crimplene dress when I was about 10. Mum made it and don't think I have worn yellow since. suit most colours but definitely not yellow.

  • Monday morning again!  Got on the site first go today – yesterday was useless – after my brief success at lunchtime, it went off again and I gave up for the rest of the day.  Seems good this morning – have been in and out to follow links, and no problems getting back again.  We also gave up on the intention to return to Caerlaverock because it went dreich and cold, despite the forecast.  Had an email from photographer friend (the one with the exhibition)  – he did go again for a couple of hours but said the light was impossible.  We filled the day being busy at home with filing and stuff.

Lindy – saw a number of Buzzards on Saturday when we went out. Were able to slow down by posts where they were sitting and watch them launch into the air in that lazy but effective motion that they have.  I hope Sweetpea waits past tomorrow now, because of your other delivery!  Roadworks proceeding this morning – different man has been measuring the roundabout donut hole today.

Annette – Caerlaverock is pronounced as spelt – separate it and try Laverock (Scottish name for Lark) first, then just put Caer (fortress – more common in Welsh) in front of it.  Sorry that you have so much worry over Granddaughter’s situation – a new life to look forward to, and remember she is young and will find ways to cope with it all – after all, she has been very resourceful finding alternative employment!

Sheila – pleased you found the party this week, and enjoyed it.

Diane – enjoyed the Blue Moon article, explaining the old rule – it makes so much more sense than the more recent definition!

Lynette – pleased you enjoyed the family celebration of your Daughter’s birthday.

AQ – sorry to hear you are melting in the summer heat, and hope the locusts get stopped in their tracks before reaching your garden.  Pleased you (and Grandkids) survived the weekend – nice to end it with Dau#2’s concert.  “Tigers could be extinct in 12 years”? – not our Tiger, I hope!

Joan – sorry you have had it so wet – we are only getting little (cold) showers, but it gets so dark.  Sun was out when I started this, but has gone again now.

Lindy – sorry you have someone so inconsiderate nearby – hope you catch up on sleep tonight.

Brenda – sorry you had trouble posting this morning – now wondering if I will get this lot on!

Patricia – how did your dogs get on this Saturday?  … Oh, just seen report of Tweed’s three rosettes – well done!   And how did your arthritis do?

Alan – our birds have not been so consistent over the weekend – but those which did come looked well-fed!  We have wondered before whether there is someone around who only puts out food when home at weekends!

Chloe – not ignoring you, so “hi there”

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
