HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY NEW MONTH!

I hope everyone enjoys the Full Blue Moon! The second full moon in a month.

Be safe and healthy all!

Stay strong, friends.

  • OG So sorry to hear about Js collapse. Do take care, all of you.
  • OG - I am also sorry to hear about J. Best thoughts to all of you.

I am also in sympathy for all with adult children having problems.

A few years ago, my S in L wanted to something completely different, so left his (well paid) work to run a pub.
We were a bit (understatement) concerned, but he has made a success of it and was happy. Under Tier 1 restrictions, he could just about break even, but was making a loss under Tier 2. He has loyal customers, but he (and they) abide by the rules. It is rather a relief now to shut down altogether. At least he has help to pay his staff.

Heather - It is very hard for Callum and all concerned to have to wait so long. Three years is a long time for a young person.

    Hello to everyone else.
  • OG:   Please do let us know how J is doing?  Do they know what caused the problem?  And just as important, how are you and EE coping?

Diane:  Oh yes!  All our contemporaries are flaking out on us.   :-)    Sean Connery too.   I'm glad to read you've been playing a lot of Scrabble  I can now safely confess to discovering Arkadium's Bubble Shooter (requires less strategy!) on the Washington Post website and am secretly horrified at the amount of time I've wasted  - it's addictive (and of course designed to be so).  Still, now that our clocks have gone back and the evenings are darker I've moved the first of my ancient photo albums (the ones I spent all last winter scanning!) onto my project table to transfer the prints I've kept to a whole new set of albums that were on sale for pennies at Michael's this summer.

Harelady: Oh good re Luna's Mom; she's doing all the right stuff.

Clare:  Yes indeed, lots of Hispanic workers here:  Our painting crew and floor guys were all from south of the border and they are busy what with everyone doing home improvement work right now. Service workers especially have been hit very hard by the drop in tourism, which was only at 30% of normal this summer and predicted to be less this winter.   Lots of food banks run by churches and community groups have popped up and many supermarkets ask if you at checkout if you want to add a donation or 'round up' your purchase to the next dollar to support the county Food Bank.   And of course there's a shortage of agricultural workers and not just in California.

Just back from walk; must go and organize eats then see what's going on out there.............or not.

  • OG - so sorry to hear about J - thoughts are with you all.
  • I've just realised that just about the whole night on BBC World Service Radio will be devoted to the election in US.... I rather think that it will be Classic fm for me, during the usual wakeful night hours !
  • Sounds like a good idea, Heather. I was thinking the same thing ... but I do prefer speech rather than music at night. I am inclined to keep myself awake to listen to music, whereas I can quite easily sleep through speech.
  • Isn't it strange, PAT, I'm exactly the same !
  • Sounds like we will both be sleeping through the American election broadcast tonight, then, Heather! Sleep well!!
  • Quick update. No, ANNETTE ambulance crew did not suggest anything. At any other time than during this pandemic, I would have asked for him to get a CT Scan - but they aren't keen to take anyone into A&E right now. It was probably caused by his high anxiety level and aggravated by the trouble he has had with his legs. I think he really needs a good check-up by someone with full access to his medical history. Anyway, he slept a lot and is up watching TV this evening, He doesn't work Wednesdays, and I anticipate a long debate before Thursday!
