It is that time for a new thread again. We continue from Weekly Chat, Sunday, October 17, 2010 Last week had so many fascinating topics I am not sure what should be carried forward.
It was such an eclectic mix, my memory is of birthdays, bears, steam engines, hedgehogs, hummingbirds, osprey pictures, computers, relativity, quantum mechanics and cats of all types. No doubt it will be repeated in the week to come.
Oh I forgot. Outlaws and inlaws! :)

Hi Lynette, welcome back glad that everything went well

Evening all: Phew. Very intensive day in court. Some witnesses weren't there so attorneys read from depositions: Q: Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah? A: Blah, blah, blah. Q: Blah, blah, blah? A: I don't understand what you mean by "blah, blah, blah." Q: Let me rephrase the question. Blah, blah, blah? A: Blah, blah, blah, but blah, blah, blah. And so on and so forth. Still very interesting, but fled for a long walk on the wharf afterward to clear my head; gorgeous warm and sunny evening (though rain due tomorrow night). Only half a day in court tomorrow and plan to spend the afternoon discussing the case with the roses at the mission!
Sheila: No, I'm not in the pix - well, I'm in the photo taken on the boat (we're all huddled at the stern). I'm in the back row on the left but I can barely pick myself out! Keep those partridges safe (got any pear trees handy?)
OG: You're off again? I missed where to. Do you have sharp blades sticking out of the wheels of your mobility scooter/chariot? :-)
TerryM: Re power, seems like we could practice some good old conservation - such a lot is wasted, it seems to me.
Lynette: Welcome back. Good things went well, let's hope you'll be able to relax.
Take care all.
Margo - Thinking of you, your OH & friend's family. Diane - Glad you & your father are safe from the weather demons. Annette - Surely your friendly judge will allow you a laptop in court so you don’t miss your bird-blog fix? LOL. Alicat - Great comparison of eggs. OG & Joan - Enjoyed your pics. OG - Have a great time (or have I missed you by now?)
Patriciat - When I’m in UK I try not to drink Aussie wine - no point going all that way to have what is at home! I usually end up with S African or Chilean wine. We have been to Chateau Yaldara (many years ago). It is near Tanunda in the Barossa Valley, about 50 miles north of Adelaide. We did a tour of the winery & also the house built, so they say, like a French chateau. It was filled with antique furniture. I don’t know if they still do house tours. I couldn’t find a website with many pics. Try Googling "yaldara wines barossa" & browse websites or click on Images for the same pics (!!!).
Tues I washed sheer curtains. They did not fall to pieces so they will live to see another summer. Then I phoned for a measure & quote on new blinds. Present ones are either extinct or dangerously close. "I’ll ring you back". She did, on Wed after I had gone to library, so OH got the message that she would call 9 am Thurs morn. He spent the day cleaning, clearing, etc, etc. Clever of me to be out wasn’t it? Girl duly arrived 8.50 am. We chose a creamy colour called "beach sand" - appropriate! "I’ll ring you today with the quote." She rang this morn (Friday). It will cost an arm & a leg, but, heck we need blinds. What I didn’t register when clearing away my filing system on the spare bed and other unusual places, was that within a month (we hope) the new blinds will be installed. Until then I should leave everything packed away. Meanwhile where did I put that - - -
Summer here yesterday. 31 C but cool change has arrived - it is now raining steadily and 18C. Whoopee. Today’s max temp was after midnight and minimum around noon.
OK, finished with the Arid Lands garden (loud cheers!). Returning we had lunch and a ramble in Port Pirie. This is Barnacle Bill (a popular takeaway seafood franchise). BTW the building was originally the Uniting church.
Travelling back to Adelaide, we passed the Ghan, the train that travels all the way to Darwin, and is named for the early so-called Afghan cameleers.
The train was exceptionally long and my view was obscured by roadside trees, except for these carriages.
A brief stop for coffee or icecream or photos at Snowtown. They are very proud of the nearby wind farm, so a turbine is featured in town. (You can’t blame them as their other claim to fame is a nasty murder a few years ago.) That’s all folks. End of tour.
Friday brainteaser. I plan to post a few each week to keep brain cells ticking. Each question contains the initials of words that make a simple sentence, thus 26 L of the A becomes 26 letters of the alphabet. Answers next Friday.

Friday everyone! Gray morn here temp few degrees plus Cs. So Annette is a juror now, can’t wait to hear her report afterwards. Diane, oh dear that storm must have been so scary!! Glad to hear you and your dad are OK! If you (and Annette) come here it will be yours truly who buys dinner (or lunch or what ever) LOL. It would be so great to actually meet you, so please just inform me when to pick up you guys from the airport. Love the Pumpkin Art Gary. I’m watching the Seili cam right now
because world’s biggest cruiser (length 361 meters and 72meters above sealevel) Allure of the Seas is now ready and on it's way to Carribian and should be passing this cam shortly

I am very familiar with this one so I will not participate just now at least. (as long as it is not ospreys! :) )
OG Have a great time.
Thanks aquilareen for the photos of the end of your tour. Looks so desolate in parts. Thanks also for your kind throughts. It really has not been the best of weeks.
I obviously do not have my brain in gear at the moment, good job we have a week to work it out.
Your temperatures seem quite high already but not a lot of fun when it is pouring with rain.

Good morning Lynette and welcome back. So glad all went well and you must be relieved your Mum is now at peace.
Good morning original goldfinch I do hope you enjoy your time away and hopefully weather will be kind to you.
Just popped in to wish OG a GREAT trip!!!
Will catch up with everyone else later. Trying to tidy up the house before the furnace repairman gets here. :-(
Have a good day, everyone.
